Most of these questions seem to revolve around a person's extreme, almost neurotic attachment to what other people think, especially of them, and attempts to control that impression. Some of the questions didn't have a sensible middle; for example, rather than either lead or follow, I'm happier just doing my own thing. These also seem to capture an extravert's proclivities for fame and power. Is there also a more introverted variant of narcissism: perhaps one rooted in feats of the arts or intellect?

Narcissism is no laughing matter. I knew a woman who showed signs of narcissistic and histrionic personality disorders, and she also had a bit of an emotionally sadistic edge (also somewhat sadistic sexually but not necessarily through physical pain). She's a compulsive liar too, so she covers for all her negatives pretty well. By appearances, she's beautiful, and she can play the sweet, innocent persona quite well. Such a person can destroy your life.

My dad is NPD. And I attract NPD like flies to s**t for some reason. I've had more than my share, I'm imprinted.

I took it yesterday and got a 33...

I don't remember my answers to everything, but I know I got an 8.0 on authority. God, I hope this doesn't make me sound like a bad person lol I just happen to be very satisified with myself and that's way better any day than hating how I am or how I look. As for the authority part, I've always been the controlling take-charge kind of person. Even when I was very little, I could manipulate anyone to do anything (I even got free popsicles from multiple ice cream trucks) and I just like to be the boss. Mom always jokes around that I'm going to rule the world one day lol

And no, I'm not a compulsive liar by any means. And as for the sexual desire thing, I have none. I'm just not interested at all.

I scored a 4. I like being in the background and don't want to lead people, it all added up to me being humble.

The test wouldn't be hard to manipulate though, it was fairly obvious which answer was narcissistic and which wasn't. Still fun though, I like these tests.

I'm happy with it, everybody should have some narcism traits.
I'm not diagnosed as narcist, I don't think I am. I'm too warm and realistic to be one.

Interestingly, my low scores were 1 in explotativeness, and 3 in vanity.

1. It was in Exploitativeness.

I scored between 2 and 7. Because some questions it was neither or both or in between so I scored it both ways. And the 2 were both in vanity because both were about looking at my body. Except that I don't do it because I think I'm pretty (and I'm not being modest, I once wondered if people were right when they said I was ugly so I submitted my photos to a community where they take photos of ugly people and let you into the community if you're ugly enough... I was actually questioned as to whether I was trolling by submitting the photos of someone else who was way uglier than the community's usual standards, so I laughed and figured I was ugly). Not sure why I do it though but it's not about good looks. Maybe because I forget what I look like otherwise.

And I too have met, and been massively screwed over and manipulated by, real narcissists. They can be really scary. Or really sad. Or both. At one point one got me to help her out with stuff she didn't actually need help with for ages... and I think she may have even selected me because I hate judging people in that way so I just kept on helping her. I didn't see the lies and manipulation until I conferred with several other people who knew her and we found out we were being told mutually exclusive sets of lies. I mean I thought something might not be right but I never guessed the scope and when I did I was disgusted. She wanted things handed to her that she didn't need, and had some people who really did need those things but didn't have them, manipulated into helping her get them.

Basically, born leader.

Not exhibitionist or vain.

I don't know how accurate it really is though I did recognise the leader bit of me, but does not being an exhibitionist fit in with leader?

This test isn't applicable to me.

There are several questions I couldn't even answer.





For example:



"I will be a success" as opposed to "Success doesn't concern me too much"?


I'm 40 y/o and I haven't been remotely "successful" by my standards or those of most other people.

So let's just saying i'm having some reasonable doubts as to whether "I will be a success" at this late hour in my life.

But academically/vocationally/financially, etc.....speaking....success DOES concern me very much thus I can't answer the question one way or another.


As usual....nothing human ever applies to me.


I can never take tests like this one since I don't fall into any little neat black/white dichotomies like the rest of the humans.

At any rate....I was tempted to check this test out because one psychologist I was seeing a long time ago told me I have a narcissistic personality disorder.


Perhaps he was on to something at the time, I was only 24 then.


If so...my life has greatly humbled me since and i've never been officially Dx-ed with a Narcissistic PD.

Borderline PD on one neuropsych eval and Schizotypal PD on the four others i've had. I only wish I had something to be Narcissistic about!! !
