i would just think jerk, and furthermore, think jerk about whoever blamed it on autism.

And what do we call it when someone on the spectrum intentionally uses their condition as an excuse? Or when someone decides to use it to excuse their behavior, even if they don't have an ASD. I think that's the point at hand... and in my opinion, trolls are jerks - period.

It could be the autistic person isn't really trolling, it just looks like they are because of the autism. I can understand it. It might not be blatant trolling with insults and put downs to get reactions. It could just be someone who knows a lot and isn't nervous about debate which, to some, looks like disagreeing for the sake of contrariness or attention when really it's the autistic knowing certain facts that others may have overlooked so they want to help by pointing those out, only to be accused of trolling.

wait, wait, no one actually SAID an autistic person blamed it on his/her autism. They said a troll blamed it on his/her autism. But are you going to believe a troll?

An autistic troll might well blame his trolling on his autism. That wouldn't make him a non-jerk.

Trolls tend to have some borderline and antisocial tendencies anyway, I'd assume it'd be more correct to “blame” such diagnosises instead.

I've never seen that happen even once in fourteen years on teh interwebs. I've seen threads like this (and the related "false aspies!" thread) over and over again. I find the disparity a wee bit curious.

and I find it textbook 'concern trolling' but mileage may vary :D

Irony at work: the meaning of this post (that I engage in trolling on another board I frequent, where it's more acceptable) was obscured by a misinterpretation (that I have been trolling these boards with my sincere, honest posting over the last several months) which got me banned.

I'm tired of waiting to see if this obvious mistake will be rectified, as I stated before, by the time I realized the post could be misread, I was already banned. No warning, no prior comments regarding troll posting on my behalf, and no reason to automatically jump to the conclusion that I was talking about trolling here on WP.

I like you guys and gals, and it was nice having a board where I didn't feel like an outcast, but this is ridiculous.

Have fun, I'm out.

I think if they're unintentionally rude, ie posting too many topics (which has got me banned from places), it's likely they're truthful, but if they're just being plain jerks to people it's probably an excuse.

A couple years ago on one site that I had spent a large amount of time on; members had a petition to have be banned. The site was really big but only had one admin who had a very hands off aproach to member disputes. I think he saw the community as some kind of sociology experiment or something. Community was great in beginning but older members left & admin formed a hand picked comity to aprove request for new members but admin was not involved in aproval process at all. New members wer clicksish & they kept ganging-up on people wer wer differnt. I had talked about a lot of personal problems/issues on there & gave advice & supported others but I strongly support individuality & did NOT turn a blind eye to the clickish bullying. I called em on it & they had been arguing amunst each other but somehow thought I was causeing all the problems for saying things other members wer afraid to. I never used by AS or other issues as an excuse for trolling but because of my AS & other issues I am a noncomformist who is outspoken about bulling/abuse. Other members saw me a a troll because I did not agree with em.
I ended up voluntarily leaving that community cuz the place was only bringing me down in the end. Sense then I've mostly been going to small sites that have little activity but WrongPlanet seems nice so for.

After JustMax stated (as above) that he enjoyed trolling, he was banned. He then broke the rules by opening a second account, rather than using any other method of contacting us. I got a PM from that second account on Tuesday. I've just now discovered that two days was too long for him to wait. He has decided to disregard the rules again: using this second account to break the rules by discussing a banned member (himself).

Again, as I do so despise lies involving my person (such as that I troll here, an easily shown as false statement), I feel the need to point out.

I used the contact us (at the top of the page) feature to seek information regarding the ban.

Quote:
This will be read by site administrators and responded to within 1 day. If you would like to post a message that everyone on the site can read and respond to, you are in the wrong place; use the forums instead.

After a day or so passed, I wondered if that wasn't the best way to do it, and checked the forums for more information.

I didn't see an email link in lau's profile, nor did I catch the strict rule against second accounts in the ToS (at the bottom of the page), and figured the easiest thing to do would be use the little PM link to seek assistance fixing a mistake.

I told lau that I tried using the contact us link already, and didn't realize someone who was wrongfully banned couldn't try to explain the mistake to the sysadmin. I posted to clarify for any who may be interested regarding the unfortunate circumstances of my banning, as I was not given the opportunity to clarify the intent of my comment about trolling.

I checked back to metaphorically bid farewell, as again, I did enjoy these boards, and did not troll them. I discovered another error, and well... I had to point it out, or it would nag at me.

I presume you are exempt from the "discussion of banned members" rule, which is amusing, but hey. Your boards, your rules, of course, though surely you understand why an Aspie would be bothered by a misrepresentation of facts.
