Would that be an EVIL minion? ::said in Dr. Evil voice::

(I think the word you're looking for is minyan. ;) )

Sorry, I have synesthesia and spelling stuff jumps out at me like crazy.

I'm sure you're right. It's not a word I often spell but one I hear and use out loud at religious occasions with the Jewish half of my family. As a non-jew I haven't had much occasion to write it. I'll try to remember the right spelling.

Evil minions can be fun. That's why I have cats.

Oh? And what happens when you go out to do your masters' bidding? ;)

I haven't had a huge occasion to use the word, being Christian, but once I see a word, it's in. ;)

Ha ha, well my Master mostly wants me to play with him or feed him. He's actually pretty lenient toward me. The real Evil Overlord in our home is a tiny female cat but her orders are generally directed to my husband who obeys her every whim. Her huge brother is more of a silent observer. Maybe he's secretly pulling the strings.

I'm a Christian. I've gone to a Covenant, Anglican, and right now a Presbyterian church. I can only go if I have my mom or my aide with me, or I have panic attacks. We have to sit in the very last row, because I get upset at hearing people behind me... can't relax otherwise. I have trouble sitting through the sermon and staying still, so I've started to help out with the children's groups and that's fun. I have trouble with the whole shaking hands with your neighbor thing. I know church is for fellowship, but I prefer to be left alone!

Somewhat. I pray and such. And I also believe demons are very real things, that our current society has been brainwashed into no longer believing in as real. but hey are political leaders worship them. why do you think their families have been in power so long?
Don't believe me?

here take a look.

I would go to shul more frequently were it not for my social anxiety. I am working to rectify that situation. Personally I don't like all of the socializing too much but I do enjoy davenning with a community. Meditating too. It feels differently than when I do it alone.

Is there a small congregation you could join, or an alternate worship time that is more suitable? Your Rabbi might have a good suggestion. It only takes 10 to make a minion, and that's not too many people. I love the Jewish Liturgy, although I am not personally Jewish. I do enjoy it on occasion when I go with a friend or relative, very much.

I live in a good area for finding a minyan -- lots of different synagogues and chavurot -- don't have a rabbi because I don't really go to shul. My shrink has encouraged me to at least try and find a quiet place where i can davven alone because I found it very helpful when I maintained that practice. There is a hillel and are a few synagogues in the area that I'm going to consider. One of them has a daily morning minyan that I might attend. The hillel does also but I would be uncomfortable since my shrink attends there.

Since I was raised in a religious family — yes, I am, and I have no plans dropping my religion.

I am a christian, but I don't really fit your definition of religious.

LOL. I went to a church service after taking about a ten year hiatus. Within 5 minutes of walking in the building, the bell tower was struck by lightning. Coincidence?- yes. But, funny.

I am Christian, but church is hard for me. I love it and dread it. I enjoy a good sermon, music, and gothic architecture, and I love and want to worship God. However, the social part is like nails on a blackboard. I found one church where people were nice to me but left me alone enough that I could go comfortably, but then I moved. My curent church has wonderful music and a better preacher than the last one, but I like it less because it is louder and more crowded. There are more people, more hands to shake, and more noise. I like parts of the services a lot. Sometimes, I even like the lunches afterwards because the conversation gets interesting. Going has been an internal struggle ever since I had a choice in the matter. When things are going wrong in my life, my attendence drops off as I jetison those difficult activities I can get out of and hope that God and the rest of the congregation understand that I can only do so many painful things at once. The church thing is unfortunate because I always end up going least when I need religious practice most.

Do you happen to have a prayer chapel where you can go with few people, or by yourself? I know at my own church that's possible.

I have self-diagnosed/assumed/whatever you call it.. aspergers and have been going to church my whole 21 years. I believe in God the Creator of something as big as the universe to as small as the tiny ants on the ground and the one who gave me life. I believe in Jesus the Redeemer of my soul. All the people in my church are like my family. Being a Christian and having the Lord to turn to when everyone else fails you.. this is probably the only way I'm sane. I thank God for his grace in my life and for blessing me with such a precious loving family that is here for me, even if I can be so difficult to live with.

I'm non-religious. I do enjoy going to churches and temples of all sorts. Lots of them are so nice and such work of art. Oh and I like going to weddings and funerals held in churches. I especially like it when they sing. I love church songs. It doesn't matter what they say in them, I still appreciate the beauty of music.

I don't think I'll ever be able to become religious, but I coexist peacefully with many religious friends and relatives. We actually share lots of similar values and preferences, it's just they have deities in their lives and we don't.

The spiritual aspects I'm ok with. The rest of the "rules" are a transparent attempt by Humans to rule Humans. And I don't know why "religious" Humans don't see it.

Co-sign, and I find that puzzling as well. My fiancee is Catholic and I really don't get it.

I am a Christian. I think religiosity has it's problems. So I tend not to call myself religious. That said, doing something religiously could just mean doing it routinely and for a meaningful reason. We all do that. But as far as spiritual beliefs are concerned, religiosity can get in the way of the spiritual. It can limit the Christian life to Sunday, for example, or limit it to within a church building.

I belong to the church, and I meet for church every Sunday in a primary school building. My local church is purposely informal, is full of people my age, and I love it! It is like being in a family. However, I do sometimes get frustrated that I've not made close friends, despite getting on well with everyone generally. This is not a criticism of the church, people invite me here and there, and make friends on facebook etc., are genuine, accepting, loving etc etc..but it a common occurence wherever I go and it's something I'm working on.
