Has anyone ever called you the name of a tv or cartoon character as an insult. Because of my constant memory problems my former co-workers would call me Randy...ie the big dumb character from My Name is Earl. They also called me rocketman after the character from the movie rocketman because how weird I am just like the character from the film.

My parents always call me "Jan Brady" whenever I trip over something or fall. They've been calling me that since I was kid, and I rode my bicycle into a mailbox by accident. I also get called "Urkel" every now and then (as in Steve Urkel from "Family Matters") because I'm such a dork. :nerdy:

I got called "Pat" from "It's Pat." It definitely wasn't meant as a compliment.

A few non-insulting comparisons:

1. Sheldon

2. Daria

3. Dr. Doolittle

My mom used to call me Rainman as an insult. I think she only did it once or twice but it still hurt.

People used to call me Timon because of my special intrest in meerkats and Lion King. My brother called me Timon as a cute nickname but the neighbor kid called me Timon as an insult.

This one kid at school called me Pee Wee Herman when I came to school wearing glasses for the first time. My parents never let me watch his movies or TV shows so I had no idea who he was anyway. I knew the kid was trying to be mean though. He could never think up good insults but by that time I had been so bullied and had zero self esteem, he could have called me any random word and it still would have hurt me.

My mom has called me Jamie Hyneman several times before. At first I was offended, but the more I think about it the more I realize it's true. I just need a mustache and a beret and I'll be all set.

It has nothing to do with me being like the character (and I'm a guy) but in elementary school I was always called D.W. as an insult (Dora Winifred Reed from the show Arthur) it was because my initials are DW. It really hurt at the time...

I don't think I've ever been compared to a character before though, and I can't think of one myself either Lol

my adoptive mother actually used to call me "little orphan annie" whenever she felt my hair was messy or something... which is just one of many many cruel things she said to me. And some strange girl in middle school who singled me out to pick on - called me "eunice".... and the only eunice I can think of is the character on the Carol Burnette show.

Spock. I was insulted at the time, but now I'm flattered. I've also been called 'Sherlock' a few times, which really cheered me up.

I think I'm probably like Sheldon in many ways (apart from the whole genius and superiority complex thing), but no one has said that to me yet.

It's not a TV character, but I've been called Chopsticks because of my obsession with Japanese things. But people in my family/people who now me really well call me Abed. (From the community)

He had a rubber ring, which had a duck head on it (like a child's swim ring). The rubber ring duck had the same expression as the cartoon duck and was always panicking and worried about something.

Not a nice way of treating someone with anxiety issues at the time...

That was Wade from the "U.S. Acres" segments of GARFIELD AND FRIENDS and no, that wasn't nice at all.

Jerry Espenson, who was a literal legal genius.

"Bones" (Dr. Brennan) from Bones, because I act very much like she does (correcting everyone, literal, socially Awkward..) and I knew every bone in the human body.

I personally took it as a compliment

I used to get called Daria sometimes in high school.

Now I get Sheldon every now and then when I try to explain something someone else thinks is really complex.

I never took either as an insult, but I prefer Sheldon (even though I'm a girl) :-)

When I was in school the "sagging" craze was at full blast and because I wore my jeans at a normal level, and because of my glasses and odd behavior I was called Urkel until high school. This was years after the show had been cancelled. And as an aside, I'm white so I never saw the resemblance.

not a tv character, but I got called Harold Of The Rocks once. its a Primus song, and I was getting into them around that age. years later I found it meant a cockblocker.

and I get Monk all the time. I don't really take it as an insult, just laugh it off.

I would've been called Jar-Jar Binks by someone because he had trouble hearing what I'd say somtimes... then other people soon did, but that was at least a few years ago, lasted a few months though, which was sort of annoying at the time.
Pretty sure I've been called a few other characters too, but that's the only one I can think of.

My former wife used to say I had "too much Captain Kirk" in me.
