I was fortunate enough to never have any huge problems like that in HS, but that can mostly be accounted for me not doing anything to stick out and just being VERY quiet most of the time (not really speaking unless it was a question in a class).

I did get sent the guidance councilor a few times because teachers were "worried" because I wasn't socializing. One teacher went as far as making it a requirement for me to spend time with one student once a month outside of school. I never did this and they just gave up eventually...

That's an inflammatory, prejudiced, and irrational question for anyone to ask. That's as insulting to me as an Aspie, as it would be to ask only the Black members of a mixed dinner table, if they'd like watermelon, or a woman offering a known Gay man a pair of pantyhose that didn't fit.

What in the hell is the issue with thinking anyone not fitting into the cookie-cutter "normal" world of idiots, is going to show up with a machine gun and mow down a crowd? Every gun collector I know, is socially "different". Every Aspie I know, is gentle, kind, and loyal beyond imagination, avoids fights, and wants to keep out of the spotlight. I have NEVER heard of a mass shooting or bombing having been perpetrated by an Aspie or Autistic. It's always schizophrenics, depressed, or most often NT people with a bad temper. The question SHOULD be; "Are you going to be OK coming to school without getting bullied, or do we need to offer you the chance to go to a different school with more understanding staff and student body?"

"Since you had to ask me that, why not be afraid of me and leave me alone and never bully me? Then it will be very likely it won't happen."

Ive said something along those lines and it got interpreted as a death threat which it clearly wasn't. I ended up getting 10 days out of school for it. Its because of people that are sacks of s**t that have to be stupid like that. Those types of people make me not want to even go to college and so far its kept me away. From my experience people dont grow the f**k up, they usually become more and more deeply rooted in their ignorance over the years.

Yes. I did get questions like that in school. But it was a long, long time before Columbine. For the most part, no one had even conceived of anything that horrid happening.

I was only asked that a couple of times. Both times I gave the same answer:

"I see you're one of those that believes there's no such thing as a stupid question."

And leave them to think whatever they did.

Someone asking you that is a form of bullying itself. You could try talking to a teacher or the assistant principal or principal about it.

Yeah, I got the "Devil Worshipper" thing too. Probably because I brought D&D books to school and use to read them during class.

I had to deal with that from 81-86. It was real bad when the movie mazes and monsters starring Tom Hanks and Christopher Makepeace would be on tv. It did not help that I listened to Metallica, Motorhead, Black Sabath, Dio, and Mega Deth and wore all black.

Depending on where ya are and s**t that can get ya ridiculed not just by students but by the f*****g staff and s**t as well. Trust me I know. Back when I was in the school system I kept on reporting it to the authorities, all it did was end up making them force me into a special ed class with subjects meant for someone who has no f*****g clue whatsoever. so it did nothing but f**k up my education entirely.

Sorry that happened to you, but talking to the principal might help, depending on the school. I was getting harrassed and told no one. The Principal found out somehow what was going on, called me into his office which I was scared to death to go, and asked me about it. I told him what was going on and he put a complete stop to it. Results can happen.
If I would have told him, probably would haven gotten results much quicker. If you are getting harrassed making a big fuss about it to the right people can put a stop to it.
