Chlorpromazine is a typical antipsychotic. It is usually given in maintenance doses of 75-300mg a day for schizophrenia, but doses can go up to 1,000mg a day in severe cases. The intramuscular injection can cause hypotension, tachycardia and nodule formation. It can be used to treat children too, but they shoud be given doses at 500micrograms/kg/day, with ages 1-6 maximum being 40mg/day and 6-12 years maximum being 75mg/day. It is also known as Largactil
