It's one of those things that come natural to me.

At this point, no. Christians will often site my tendency for looking at and questioning details, or in their words "everything", when examining the Bible as a gift from God. In reality this "ability" would make believing in a God without any set facts or data impossible. The Bible is too open to interpretation, so I could never believe in it. It's against the way I see the world.

Of course, I don't think the title calls for only dealing with Christianity but it is the religion I have the most exposure and knowledge of.

I was raised in a very christian home, but I never understood god or Jesus or any of the bible. It just made no logical sense what so ever.

Then I went on to learn about science and logic and reasoning. I don't see the reason for a god or peoples attachment to a god or gods. It's just more than a little baffling.

This is one of the reasons I don't believe in hell... from the replies in this thread, it does seem like many aren't capable of believing in God. It isn't an autistic thing, is it?

If there is a loving God, the one I believe in, I don't think he'd allow people who, I suppose are "incapable" in believing in him, to be born in this world, only to have them go to hell... if they were never truly born able to fill any of the supposed "qualifications" for "Heaven", then it wouldn't just be cruel to have them born in the first place, it would be senseless... which an all-knowing God would know better than to do that.

I really think that, even as a Christian I can say this, none of us truly have any idea of what's going to happen after death. I guess that borders on agnostic. I'm just indecisive and see things as "Gray" rather than "Black and White". I think really, it's a lot more complicated than most people, Christian or Atheist, make it out to be.

I just think that being a skeptic and knowing that you don't know all the answers, is a fine stance. Believe what you want, but if you claim you know everything and that you're 100% correct and they're 100% incorrect... I think you're incorrect just because of that.

Either way, so much hate in this thread...

You see pettiness and spite, God sees imperfection. If you were an all knowing all powerful being who created a paradise, the last thing you'd want to happen to it is for it to get trashed. Sin is the "trash" here. God went to all the trouble to make His Kingdom perfect in every way, if He were to allow imperfection in, Heaven would be like earth is now, used up, worn out and trashed.

God's standard is perfection, we cannot meet that in our current form, God knows that. He manifested Himself as a man (Jesus) and offered to take on all our sins, flaws, shortcomings and so on. By dying a human death for us, sin died as well His only request is that you believe He did that for you.

I dont see pettiness and spite, i see God wanting to keep His property clean.

My faith for Eternal bliss.... Sounds like a good idea to me.

Sin is "trash", but as Christians, we're sinners just as others are sinners. We're just as imperfect as they are, we may as well be "trash" as well, but if we're being accepted into heaven, why not them? Further, by dying a human death, he did die for us all. For us all. The early church first believed in universal salvation.

Jesus ate with tax collectors and "sinners" anyways. I think by now, God has a good understanding of the trials and difficulties with accepting God. Humans cannot and should be expected to follow an equation so robotically... there's numerous reasons why someone would reasonably not go towards God. What if someone in the name of God abuses someone? Child molesters in the church. The church is full of sin. How could anyone easily expect the abused to think of God in the same way again? Would a just God throw the abused person into hell? There are many other possible scenarios that have been done.

God isn't cruel. I refuse to believe in a God that would easily throw "Oh, he's just trash. Never mind him, his life, and the pain he may have endured." to burn for eternity.

No. Every religion just strikes me as so illogical.

Let the mockers come, i know they will, but their eyes will be opened when they stand before their Almighty Creator. Call the Bible a "fairy tale" if you want to, call God an "imaginary friend", but see how long HE puts up with it when you get to HIS Kingdom.

I humbly suggest that the tone of your post is too aggressive, and that it will therefore only make relations between different faiths and non-faiths worse. As far as I can see, this is exactly the lesson my wife and I had to learn (see my previous post), though even at our worst we didn't trash each other's beliefs as completely as you have here. So no, I ain't gonna mock you, I'll settle for respectful challenge and contradiction. I hope everybody here will do the same, but given the subject, it's unlikely.

Capable of believing in God? Yes, of course.

Presentation of some evidence that couldn't be easily faked by humans (let alone stuff that's blatantly constrained by the limited imagination and world knowledge of desert-bound primitive patriarchs) would be a good start - random alteration of physical constants or the sudden appearance of a billion tons of gold (or better, a billion tons of gold disks full of divinely wonderful music), perhaps.

No. I have always viewed all religion as nonsense. If I could believe in a god, then I would feel nothing but hatred towards him for making me the way I am.

Are you capable of believing in God?

Yes, but I am a spiritual mercenary.

If one meets the high fees I demand for religious belief, I shall subscribe to that particular non-profit religion.

Please send the fees I demand to my Post Office Box in South America. Sorry, not refunds.

I reserve the right to change my opinion on the topic with or without notice.

Have a good day.

I hear that word, evolution, all the time, but I don't understand how that can explain how a maple tree just randomly decides to grow funny looking seeds, just for the heck of it, without realizing the implications.

I know most people, the more they learn about science, the more firmly they believe that God has no hand in it...but I'm the opposite for whatever reason. Call me old-fashioned, I guess...ignorant, maybe.

I don't think so. I grew up non-religious and non-spiritual. I can't believe in doctrine and religious lore. They are no more then culture that stems from human's immanent ability to copy complex tasks without truly understanding them, and human's ability to cover up this lack of declarative knowledge about their procedural knowledge by fairy tales - or deities.
