I love google maps. I also love wikipedia. I doubted anyone would make a combination of them. So now I'm obsessed with that also (wikimapia).

In past days I looked up a wireless network in my local area, which pointed out the access points on a google map.

I'm wondering if this obsession will last forever.

I have found myself getting addicted to Google Earth (which IMHO is a 3-D map) so I am going to guess that some obsessions can last quite a long time (I have been interested in maps since about 6 and I am now 32).

I've always been good at directions, even in places I have never been to. Getting lost is barely an inconvenience. I love maps and geography.
Always been this way. My husband is the opposite.

I've been obsessed with maps since I was about 10 years, especially old ones.

My connection with maps is part of a general interest I have in countries and cities.
I especially like maps of the ancient world at the time of The Roman Empire,when all the places had different names (Scotland was Caledonia,Ireland was Hibernia etc) and it's like being transported 2000 years back in time.

I have always been fascinated by maps. I used to collect them. My geography isn't that great though :oops: but I'm very good at reading them. I'm also pretty good at looking at a map and then keeping the map in my head while I'm driving.

I like street-level maps especially.

I like historical maps (Roman empire,USSR,city maps,etc) :oops:

I really like topographical maps (shaded relief.) Street maps, not so much. I'm more interested in just personally exploring the places (and thus later I don't need a map.) Of course, if the geographical features are interesting I might look and see how the roads had to be laid out because of it...

Historical maps are great! I love reading road maps and some topological maps, although I get a little confused by those after a while. A while ago I came across some older maps of the US, dating back to when the Interstate system was still being built. It seemed so weird and amazing that there would be little stretches of Interstate freeway on the map, or with so many of the US highways that pretty much no longer exist (as is largely the case in California).

Why do you think I love video games?! Memorizing the worlds and creating a virtual map in my head is fun!! !

The mapping skills are also useful in programing. Algorithms are easier to understand by mapping them in your head.

I wonder if I should do a follow-up poll to see if anyone else can actually visualize 4D and 5D objects in their head.

I don't like maps... But I love home plans! I went to the Parade of Homes over the weekend (it's a thing we have every fall in Indianapolis and surrounding cities here) and I picked up a bunch of them. Those realtors just loved me! lol

Another map lover here. I'm always glad when there's somebody else to drive so I can navigate and watch everything. Topo maps, historical maps, satellite pics, yeah.
