But it was a nice episode all the same. Wish my parent's were as understanding as Max's. If he had my parents, Max would've been spanked at least three times tonight.

My parents were like that, they told me they could not believe how many times they would tell me no or spank me and end up seeing me do the bad same behavior right after the spanking for it. They chalked up to me being stuborn or able to shrug off a spanking.

I think if I was told by my parents that I had Aspergers and they were holding back the tears trying to keep a brave face it would have scared hell out of me. I probably would have kept my autism like it was a dirty family secret. I would have become more withdrawn and quiet around strangers out of fear they would find out about what I had.

They keep doing that... Just for once, I wish they'd hire actual disabled people to play roles of disabled people. It's like white people putting on blackface or something. Utterly unrealistic.

That, and you can always tell when an actor using a wheelchair or who's supposed to be blind or deaf or whatever isn't actually disabled. It looks awkward, forced, and totally unnatural. It's like they've got a really bad "non-disabled" accent or something.

A disabled person would be used like a set peice while a NT actor playing a disabled person gets an Oscar.

And you know what else? I watched Ladder 49 and Backdraft and did you know that NONE Of those guys in those movies were actually firefighters? They were just playing the parts like posers or actors or something. I'm thoroughly disgusted!

Not even close to the same issue. Firefighter is a job, disability is innate.

You know, I have always thought why don't movies use real police officers than actors, why don't they use real doctors than actors or use real teachers than teachers, etc. Instead they have to use extras or use an actor to play a small roll. I could never understand when using extras, why couldn't they use a real mother and their child than finding a child and a woman to play the mother and they aren't even related. Even in Space Jam why did they have to use actors to play his wife and kids than using his real wife and kids.

Firefighting is more than a job.

They didn't hire a specifically aspie kid because they wanted to make sure the child could perform in a busy, multi-tasking environment. They can't afford to have a meltdown in the middle of shooting and put everyone on hold until he can perform again. This isn't the set of Two and a Half Men.

The episode when Adam got unintentionally high didn't impress me, either. Why couldn't they have actually made him high? He didn't act at all like I remember people acting when they're high. And that fight Crosby got in? I bet it didn't actually happen and that's just make-up on his eye making it look like a bruise.

I enjoyed the episode and love the show. I think the meltdowns are kind of over the top just because the ride is shut down you freak out. Of course I don't remember much meltdown behavior except in school throwing chairs and getting angry. (I was bullied). Unlike some of you here I swear AS never crossed my mind until my sister brought it up that I may have it. I researched it and a lot of traits connected with me especially the social skills issues. It helped me relate my behavior mistakes of the past to something! :-) I never saw my behavior as different as a child except for the fact that I was in the principal's office daily!
