okay... so how do they explore the use of cannabis for children without including children in the process?

Cannibis is perhaps the wrong word. This invokes images of bong parties. The psychoactive ingredients in cannabis, extracted, purified to exacting standards, fully documented and researched in rigorous fashion is no less ethical than any other drug trial for children. But anecdotal driven herbalism is fraught with much more potential for harm.
What is Sativex? What is Marinol? What was in all those cannabis medicines years ago?
The whole plant has been extensively tested for safety in children.
The psychoactive extract THC is known to have more side effects on it's own than the whole plant, that's why companies like GW Pharma and CBIS are interested in the whole plant synergy.
Cannabis is SAFE FOR ALL AGES, if you don't believe that, look harder

Why so tense?
Even if what you say is true, the perception is miles away. What I was pointing out is that perception, not any particular reality. If the word cannabis overwhelming invokes images of pot heads, then you have a problem. Doesn't matter who made Sativex or how it was derived. For that matter, why did they name it Sativex? Maybe because calling it "purified marijuana by products" has a negative image? You can't see that putting the words "cannabis" and "testing children" in the same sentence just MIGHT be interpreted wrong? Whereas the words "clinical trials" might have a different effect?
