Anyone talk with a monotone voice

I am often told I speak in a monotone voice. Also, I sometimes have trouble controlling the VOLUME OF MY VOICE (Austin Powers anyone?). I also have been told that I don't show many facial expressions. However, over the years I think that I have improved in both areas.

I don't have a monotone voice (at all) either and I'm diagnosed. People actually have commented on how much inflection I have in my voice. A lot of people have thought that I have an accent though (and I'm from the country that I live in). Also I have difficulty modulating the volume of my voice.....often in public places if I'm really excited about something I get really loud and my mom has to shush me (I hate that for some reason). When I try to speak more quietly sometimes my voice becomes as low as an inaudible whisper (under my breath).

Some people don't believe my AS diagnosis when they first meet me............but for a doctor to say that lacking one characteristic (which isn't even listed in the symptoms criteria in DSMIV-TR....I don't know what system he/she was using) was proof that you didn’t have AS......is ridiculous!

I agree that it was utterly ridiculous. But unfortunately there are so many stories of people being misdiagnosed by doctors who lack knowledge.

And I also sometimes talk too loudly in public places. :oops:

Yes, I speak with a monotone voice. That's what comes natural to me. I sometimes try to mimick the tones that other people use when they talk, but I have to fake those tones and I often forget to or just don't feel like doing it all the time. The problem is that when I speak with my natural monotone voice people tend to ignore me completely and not listen to anything I say. :?
