It's funny seeing the words "cure NTs." It's because of the irony which is hilarious.

"Eliticism" is not a word, young one. I believe the proper term is "elitism."

Thanks for the correction. I think your younger than me. Do you refer to everyone as "young one"?

I think everyone takes themselves way too seriously. Aspie, NT, autistic...whatever. We're all human and we all have our flaws.

I barely pay attention to this elitism crap. It's such a young person's thing to do. I should know I was a music elitist, still kind of am but I have relaxed a bit.

I'm sure you heard this argument plenty of times, but people on the spectrum have been responsible for many great advancements in culture and science. To say that they shouldn't reproduce is not only brazen, but insulting to many. There are people on this site, such as me, who are doing quite well in school and life. Sure I have social problems, but I know how to use my aspie IQ to learn these things. Sure I have been bullied, and my own mother doesn't understand me, but I have enough self-esteem to realize that it's her problem, not mine. There are also plenty of aspies on this site who did reproduce and have both aspie and NT children. I highly suggest you start practicing your social skills now, by not insulting any more people. Quite frankly, it's a bit easy to see why you might come off as unfriendly and selfish. You just tried to project your own negativity to everyone else.

It looks as if you have some other issues that are causing you to say that. I would say, you need to stop blaming all your problems on AS and start focusing on improving your self esteem. Then again, I'm not your therapist, so I'm not going to overstep into your realm any more than I just did.

If I am negative & have low self-esteem; it's related to having others misunderstanding me my entire life due to my AS. Being beat-up everyday at school because I had strange ways, Regularly being accused of being hateful by my family, going true most all my life feeling alone because I could not connect with or get close to anyone. I know some Aspies are great successes but I think it would be extremely cruel to potentially pass on the Aspie social problems to a future generation who will not understand or accept em

I have all the problems you have, and I managed to overcome them. I'm succeeding right now because I know how to not let my past affect my future. I like having AS, and I believe it's what helped me succeed in classical piano, and now it's helping me succeed in premed. My parents are constantly comparing me to my schizophrenic alcoholic uncle, and I have been bullied plenty. Kids would bully me at school, and my mom would bully me at home. My mom would whip me all the time and say how smart her other students were compared to me. Now this was all environmental. It would only be "cruel" to produce an aspie child, and to raise him the way I was raised, as in put him in the same environment. I expect that my future children will probably be on the spectrum, but I intend to do everything in my power to give them the constructive environment they need. Many autistic kids have been raised successfully without all the stress we were put through. As a parent, you just need to recognize that your kid may need help in certain areas. For example, the minute my kid starts getting bullied, I'm homeschooling him until the other kids are more mature. There are plenty of autistic individuals that can function very well in society, and they are quite proud of their abilities and recognize their shortcomings, but they don't let their social limitations mentally affect them.

You are rite about the problems being environmental. There was an article in a local paper/magazine thing here recently talking about Autism & AS & it talked about how they are dependent on their families because there is nothing here for them in the way of support & social services ect & it's extremely difficult for people like us to get jobs here because of the job situation & lack of programs to help us. I imagine things might be better in other areas but the economy worldwide is pretty $h!tty rite now & programs & services that might help us out are facing budget problems & stuff. I feel bringing an Aspie or an autistic into the world rite now would be unfair for them & for the rest of the world. We should NOT expect NTs to to meet us halfway because a very large majority of the world are NTs & lots of em haven't even heard of AS or autism & even if they have; they don't understand it or know we have it. Expecting a huge majority to make changes halfway for a very small minority seems foolish & kind of selfish

I was talking about the environment that the parents provide. A parent is definitely capable of raising a kid with AS, as long as they're dedicated enough. I don't expect the world to meet me halfway, nor would I expect the rest of the world to accommodate my future kids. You're right, that is foolish and selfish. The thing is that parents and kids with AS are high-functioning enough that they can adapt. It's very possible for an AS kid to learn how to keep a job and to learn basic social skills. I adapted, and I will raise my kids to adapt. It's hard, but totally worth it. It's up to the parents to provide a suitable environment, not the rest of the world. I will be a doctor by the time I have kids, so I know I will have the resources to help them. It would be unrealistic for me to depend on everyone else.

It takes a village to raise a kid NOT just parents. My parents did everything they could to help me & they've done lots more than most parents would but that only counts for so much. They are lots of things that are completely beyond their control. They cant change how the rest of the world responds to AS

No, which is why I explicitly stating that I was "half-joking."
I was briefly pretending to be elitist, which was the joking part and the "mockery" part (I was mocking elitists), then I was being partly serious because "eliticism" is not a word. But I was mostly mocking elitists. So I guess I was 80% joking, 20% serious...
I guess I should not have expected people to understand.

Okay, that is quite understandable.

Frankly, I don't think you're being honest at all. Whatever the real reason you have for your self-hating neurosupremicism, it likely has more to do with being locked into self-hate as a survival mechanism against people who despise you, or trying to coast through life on pity by constantly telling the people around you how unworthy of life you are, or possibly a combination of the two. If you actually believed that you are not an asset to humanity/Earth's biodiversity, you wouldn't be posting here. If you genuinely believe the world is better off without you, put your money where your mouth is and die.

Otherwise, stop saying that everyone who happens to have a few neurological quirks in common with you is unworthy of life and start trying to figure out how to improve yours. I, for one, will be significantly more sympathetic to you once you start trying to fix your problems instead of just whining about them, and condemning countless others in the process.

Also, hello to the Wrong Planet forums. For what it's worth, I'm not usually like this at all. I've been lurking for a bit, but this post irked me enough that I felt the need to register.

Yeah, well I'm living proof that you don't need a village. I was homeschooled until 8th grade. When I ended up going to school, sure I was bullied, but that doesn't mean I wish I wasn't born, and I never thought it was "cruel" for my parents to bring me into this world, as you claim. They did other cruel things, but I appreciate being alive. Life is tough, so I learned to deal with the world. I expect to teach my kids the same thing, and I believe it's possible. I'll say it again, many aspies live very productive and enriching lives. Every one of us has a different set of strengths and weaknesses, but it all depends on the attitude. Unfortunately for you, yours seems to be negative. I really hope you find a way to change your attitude or else you'll just be miserable. I think you need to stop complaining about how the rest of the world treats you, and actively improve how the world sees you as a person, not your AS.

I've thought about killing myself many times but I know it would hurt my family & I still hope there is a chance for me to make things better in the end. I do NOT think my paretns were cruel to bring me into this world; I think I am extremely selfish for being such a humungous burden on em. I am a major screw-up because the more I try to improve things; the worse they get.
