Maybe this "rise of fascism" is as simple as the fact that if you spend too much time on the Internet, you become more anti-social. It often starts as asocial, but it can become anti-social, depending on who you are. I'm the type of person that, if I spend all my time on the hellhole that is the Internet, I'm at risk for becoming like that. It might take me a bit longer than a good number of people, but it would happen, and it has happened to me, even on this forum. But since I know that, I try and step back whenever I slip up. I don't want to be like most blog commenters.

Who is this group you speak of? Just wondering.
By the way, I don't consider myself to be top of the WP foodchain as it were, nowhere near.

Is there a "top of the WP foodchain"? It probably depends which forum you lurk on; The PPR forum and Random have different uber-posters, who have little to do with each other.

Wrong phrase? OK, um popularity thing.

I'll eat anyone I can fit in me gob.

When you think about it, the people that are complaining about the regular posters taking up all the space are actually forming their own group. And their group are going against the regulars group so in the end are just as prone to herd mentality/us vs them as anyone else. Virtually no-one, no matter what their way of thinking is, is immune to it.
I do admit I sometimes get a but annoyed with members here and there, whether for popularity reasons or not but I'm not denying it! Group mentality is everywhere, you can't get away from it at all.

The funniest thing is when groups gather round and whine about other members...I've experienced it at other sites...and I find it funny when, now and again...one of the members stalk my account...so I put in hidden messages to annoy them...I am sure they do annoy them too. XD

Anyways, I have only experienced a few that act sarcastic or mock something they know little about...although it's not that bad as directly insulting someone...

As for the older members are, the more elitist they act...it isn't always true...although if it was then that means they have wasted most of their life moaning at younger people who still have time...but of course anyone can be a troll/bully...

I have no idea what's going on here. But I hope that if I ever become fascist, someone will let me know before I invade Poland.

Umm, how did it go from a semi-serious topic to something that was utterly a joke?

A lot of group-think occurring on WP lately.

What's wrong with that?

It becomes tiresome when one experiences it in everyday life. It would be great to have an escape from that kind of mentality from time to time. It's alien to how I naturally think. My way of thinking is just different.

It's not forming a group in my case because I doubt Surfman will even comment on my comment to him.

I imagine the levity expressed here suggests that we generally don't really agree that there's rampant fascism taking over at WP.

I used to belong to one, they were mostly pleasant, and mainly talked about books.

Now a forum for NPD folks, whooo boy...

I didn't think there was such thing, given that Schizoid personality disorder is generally portrayed as being completely asocial :)
