Where you diagnosed with ADHD before Asperger's?

Darn squirrels!

I was diagnosed first with paranoid schizophrenia and then later A.D.D. , and even clinical depression. All of the above were disproved or confirmed to be wrong diagnoses; especially the paranoid schizophrenia. That was a joke! It was a young MD/psych at the UCLA NPI Hospital, who wrote that, when I was 9 years old. Later I came to find out that you cannot diagnose that in a 9-year-old. His notes suggest that he made the false findings as a result of my statements that "other kids don't like me, and they chase me home from school, and say nasty things about me (and to me)". I had told him that the reason I was becoming afraid of other kids, was that they were out to get me.... And with a few exceptions, they were! He thought I was lying or imagining that, but in fact they were doing those things because I was high-functioning autistic, and I was imagining none of it whatsoever. The worst part of that goof-up was the medications. Navane with Thorazine, and Elevil. I was so f**cked up that I lost control of my bladder, and couldn't sleep or be fully awake, and forgot who was President.

Your right, ADD/ADHD do not come inherently with social or language disruptions; it is just way too much information coming in and the inability to process what the brain usually filters naturally. BUT, the area of the brain that causes this in the brain of a someone with ADD/ADHD, the frontal lobe, is also one of the same areas of the brain effected in the person diagnoses with a spectrum disorder, if I am remembering correctly. (I guess I should be checking my facts first but, I really don't have the time for such at the moment; I will later though.) Anyhow, in the spectrum disorders, it is not just the frontal lobe that is effected but, also the language center at the back of the brain and an other section (that I cannot remember). Incidentally, the frontal lobe is also responsible for managing impulse control, effecting ones ability to control their own impulsiveness consciously and without great effort.

I do not hold a degree in psychiatry either, though I am trained by the state to work in the field doing behavioral modifications (which has nothing to do with knowing ones neurology at the degree we are discussing it here). I'll come back to this after I have found the information that either says I am remembering correctly or not at all ... cannot just leave it this way, lol; it will drive me nuts! Anyhow, take all the above with a grain of salt until I give the links that back up my statements.
