Drugs/alcohol/energy drinks and autism.
If I ever write a book about AS, I will discuss drugs in a big chapter.Personally, I love weed.Weed is so great. When I agitated, I wanna get high so bad.Smoking just takes all my troubles away and I can be happy with what's around me.Energy drinks are good if you want to jolt yourself with energy.I have never been drunk but I have drank alcohol.I like coffee.Cigarettes are cool but I prefer marijuana.Cigs are better if used regularly.

I despise alcohol/tobacco/drugs. They make people act like idiots and shorten lifespans.
Tea/coffee, well, I don't like them, but I don't think any less of people who do enjoy them or are even addicted to caffeine.
Energy drinks? Never heard of anybody addicted to them, if somebody really likes caffeine then they generally drink tea or coffee over here. It's probably a cultural thing. I only drink an energy drink when I need energy (i.e. I'm exercising).
energy drinks=caffine=drugs...and caffine is addictive so there are certainly people addicted to energy drinks(they are really just addicted to the caffine).
I know it is possible due to the caffeine content, I just thought people were more likely to drink tea or coffee.
It still seems weird to me, even if the thread had been called "drugs/alcohol/caffeine" I would have found it weird.

Well as a rule energy drinks have more caffine then a cup of tea or coffee, that is why a lot of them have warnings that say not to drink more then 3 in 24 hours.

Yeah. Energy drinks should be "consumed responsibly. Do not drink more than 3 cans per day. Not intended for children, pregnant women, or those sensitive to caffeine" (I'm reading this off the back of the Lo-Carb Monster can).

One time I thought it would be a good idea to drink a Spike energy drink as quickly as I could.....even though I think the label said to drink half of it and see how you react to it before drinking the rest or something like that so I decided it would be more fun to ignore that. So I ended up puking a lot, could not sleep that night because I could not relax and felt horrible all day the next day....needless to say I did not do that again.

Likewise. Spike is the only drink I won't down in a couple of seconds. It made me a little light-headed after I bought it from 7-Eleven, but nothing at all serious happened. However, you can also get Spike in tablet form, and it says on the bottle, "do not take more than one every eight hours" (they're very small bottles that hold four tablets, but the tablets are kind of big). I took three at once, and a short while later, that's when I threw up in my mouth. I'll never buy the tablet form of Spike again.
i have a general hypothesis that applies to this.
Our brain requires a certain level of stimulus coming in for it to maintain equilibrium. That stimulus or input can come from any number of sources. NT's get much of it from socialization, (high external-low external) We tend to be more internal with regard to our sources or input, ie drifting off in your mind, or engaging in extra activities (stimming) to achieve out level of equalibrium.
drugs alter your experince, and therefore change the inputs. I argue that taking a stimulant like adderal works by creating a bunch of distracting physical stimulation (the urge to just get up and move) and resisting this is what creates the proper level of input for me to be able to focus and pay attention to one thing going on outside of me. (does that make any sense?)
essentially chemically altering oneself is a form of stimming.

Spike in tablet form? that is actually very tempting.....I would be careful though because I don't want another caffine overdose. lol
Watch out some of those energy drinks are bad for your heart and kidneys. Trust me heart and kidney disease are joke.
I guess you can say I am addicted to pepsi. I drink it non-stop all day long. I quit drinking it for one year I lost 40 lbs and slept better but went right back to drinking it put the weight back on. Now that I have diabetes I have switched to diet caffine free pepsi at least I sleep better at night.
I use to smoke marijuana from ages 13-25 so I could deal with people better. I was going out with friends a lot. Now that I don't smoke it I do what I can to weasel out of going out with friends do to social anxiety issues. I wonder if I would become more social if I started back up again?

Light to moderate alcohol drinkers live longer than non alcohol drinkers.
Many medications are similar to recreational drugs, ie ritalin and meth
Cannabis tinctures was the #1 medicine for a great many years.
Energy drinks contain stimulants in abundance.
I think you need to review your inaccurate comments, drugs may help.

I have a legitimate addiction to coffee...and if I can't get a coffee, I will have an energy drink. If I don't have caffeine once a day, I will get skittish and very agitated.
I have had issues with alcohol about a year ago, but I have worked through these and can now drink safely, but only around people I am comfortable with. I avoid drinking if I am socializing with people I dislike or don't know well...the pattern is that I will get so anxious that I'll gulp down drinks just to make myself sociable.
Marijuana helps greatly with my anxiety...it's like a magic eraser that takes away my obsessive thinking. I usually smoke twice a week, but I couple it with meditation exercises, so that I won't have to rely on it alone to conquer my anxiety.

This misdiagnosis caused me significant stress, which lessened upon finding out the truth about myself from my current and past long-term therapists - that I am an anxious and highly sensitive person but do not have an autism spectrum disorder.
My diagnoses - social anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
I’m no longer involved with the ASD world.

Alcohol comes under "act like idiots", and most people my age do not drink it "light to moderate"ly. Even then, whilst it reduces the chances of developing heart disease, it increases the chances of developing cancer, even just 3 units a day (that's a pint of beer).
Paracetamol is harmful in fairly small quantities, yet is a useful painkiller in even smaller ones. Medication depends on context, and using them outside of the correct context is reckless and could (often does) cause long term health problems.
Leeches were the #1 medical treatment for even longer.
Your energy drinks comment is pretty irrelevant to my post.
I love this new tapout energy drink (the peach mango one) and it's sugar-free.

I'm also addicted to Starbucks cappuccino. This link comparing the amount of caffeine in enery drinks vs Starbucks vs Tim Horton's (Canada) coffee. Looks like Starbucks Venti Brewed Coffee is tops:

I haven't had an energy drink in a loooooong time. But when I last had one, it was amp (those are my favorite. I don't know if they still exist tho)
I refuse to pick up a Rockstar b/c of the whole autism hate thing involving Michael Savage. And I've never had Monster energy drinks before but they're everywhere in Eugene (which seems to explain why my favorite rock band, Black Veil Brides picked here to do a show back in February after all, Monster is a sponsor. LOL!)

Because of generalized anxiety disorder and clinical OCD and autism. I suffer a s**t ton of anxiety without heavy meds.
It's impossible for me to become addicted to substances. Even nicotine. My favorite chemical is LSD which is the anti drug this world needs as it has been studied extensively to treat alcoholics and has application for other addictions. I only do it once a month because it has zero addictive qualities. The experience is so special and so deep its almost sacred. LSD is non toxic, clear, colorless, odorless and impossible to overdose on (good luck finding enough LSD to do this)
