Another factor is that the French will have, say, three drinks spread throughout the day. The British will wait until Friday or Saturday and have, say, eight drinks in two hours. So whilst this hypothetical French person drinks about three times the amount of the Brit, he never gets paraletic.

Some British people behave like that - it's a sub-section of society, it's not all of us by any means. It's the same in Ireland and, to a greater or lesser extent, in most Northern European countries.

Yes, I know you're on the other side of Scotland but still… ;)

I prefer Tennent's far and away over any of the beers or lagers produced in Edinburgh, that's my personal taste.

Tennent's Lager's not too bad as a pint (although not my personal choice) and I'm told they do a surprisingly good stout for that brewery. The Super is a beer best avoided though I think. :)

It does relax you, but it also removes inhibitions.

As for headaches, I had a reputation for never having hangovers. I actually had exactly one - the first time I got drunk. I never had one again.

My reasons for drinking alcohol weren't exactly healthy, however, which is why I ultimately stopped.

Well I'm not an NT ... but Jim Morrison, Richard Harris and Oliver Reed are three who spring to mind straight away.

Jim Morrison didn't get rich by drinking himself stupid, he got rich because he was an amazing singer, then he drunk himself stupid and died.

Why do you think NTs get laid so much? Because they've been on it, so they can do things they would never otherwise have done.

A drunk man's actions are often a sober man's thoughts.

Yeah, I know people drink and then have sex. I was more thinking that the relaxation was part of the reduced inhibitions.

I  beer....I have drank to the point of puking before, I try not to because that is no fun at all but it does happen sometimes. I don't like crappy beer though.......If I am going to drink beer it has to be good beer. I would not really consider myself obsessed, but yeah I don't have an issue with NTs who drink because I am a non-NT that drinks.

I really do not think Jim Morrison drank himself stupid.......from what I know it seems he was creating awesomeness pretty much until his untimely death(if he died, maybe he's just hiding).

Again, this isn't an AS vs NT thing, it's a people thing.

And alcohol does relax you, that's the point.

As far as getting a hangover goes that really only happens if you drink a lot and don't stay hydrated.

It hasn't given me a headache since I was 18. It took 2 hangovers for me to learn how to drink correctly. I haven't had a headache since then.

I do not think it's really cool. It's just a beverage. But then again, I am no longer 18.

I usually do not get hangovers, I have found if I sip on water throughout the night while drinking I don't get headaches or hangovers...so my theory is alcohol related dehydration=hangover.

Ugh.

Why actually drink the stuff, when one can just inhale the fumes...? One still gets intoxicated that way...without having to endure the dreadful taste.
