Smoking maybe a reason for autism!!

Cigarettes were about 30 cents for a pack of 20 back in the 1960s, too.

They were still just over 50 cents by 1976.

When a pregnant woman smokes or drinks, it increases the chances for premature birth and low birth weight, which can result in serious physical and developmental issues, not specifically autism, but that can occur.

The most common disability associated with low birthweight is cerebral palsy. I haven't heard of many stand alone cases of autism among premature infants. Eye problems and blindness are also common consequences of prematurity.

I'm very certain both my parents were very careful when my mom's pregnant with me despite not having any issues back then.
Because it took them years to have me, and they would rather be so sure it won't go badly... Let alone did anything risky like smoking or drinking.

Dad's a smoker, mom's not.

If there were any issues or risks involved during with my mom's pregnancy, it's with my sister's.

General theory of autism right now is that there is a strong genetic predisposition that can be triggered by environmental factors. Smoking during pregnancy could be one of those triggers, however it is only one trigger. My parents didn't smoke and weren't around smokers and I'm sure the same is true of many autistics.

I don't know of anyone in my family (including extended family) who smokes or used to smoke.
