Are AS people simply too nice?

I'm always as polite as possible, though people think I'm distanced and aloof. I also have huge problems with using people's names, eye contact, small talk, revealing details about my private life, and greeting/saying goodbye.

I don't know if we are all too nice but I know being too nice is a bad thing. People see you as a fake or phony or doing games and people see niceness as a weakness. People even give you crap for it too and I am not sure why. I have been accused of doing BS because of it. I try and be fair to everyone, even if I don't like them and people seem to think you have to be unfair to the ones you don't like or you are doing BS. I can still feel sorry for them or agree with what they say, that doesn't mean I am bullshitting. Am I not supposed to agree with what they say and agree with someone else I like when they say the same thing that other person had said? That be a double standard there and it doesn't make any sense to act that way.


I try not to be too nice. I have to think if I am being nice because I want to or just because I am just being nice before I do it.


It always puts me off when people say "I said that just to be nice" "I did that just to be nice" because then it sounds like they didn't mean it at all what they did and it was just fake. So an example right there about why niceness can be a bad thing if you are too nice.

I've always been told I acted as if I had a "chip on my shoulder" and that if you took it personaly, I was a very mean baby. My mom says that the kids were so mean to me at school becuase I was mean. If I was so mean, you think they would have avoided me as opposed to runing up to me and hitting me for no reason. But yeah, people never refered to me as nice when I was a kid.
