Can an NT please explain this to me? I don't get it

If that's the case, I'm pretty sure she was teasing you in a good-natured way. It might have even been flirting depending on how it was said.

She would start laughing because saying something that's obviously false to everyone (you and her in this situation) is considered joking around and it's something that NTs just like to do. Not everyone has the same sense of humor, so not all NTs would find it humorous, but almost all would recognize the sarcasm.
