my shoelaces come undone all the time even now, so I just walk around with my laces undone, alot at 34 years old.
I had a hard time with learning them...and yes my hand writing is bad, not because I cant do better but usually in a rush to write things down before I forget.

I still can't tie laces.

On Saturdays I referee 6/7 year old children when they play 5-a-side football, they'll often tell me that their laces are untied. I've come to realise that rather than telling me an interesting fact, they're requesting that I do their laces up, so I tell them to speak to their manager. I wear velcro trainers so it isn't an issue for me, but finding velcro in the first place for a size 9 shoe can be difficult.

I only agreed to velcro shoes being bought when my mother took me shoe shopping. Double velcro tennis shoes. I still have fond memories of that scratching sound (I used to call them scratch shoes....)
So obviously, yes, I had a tiny issue with laces  I remember before I decided to veto laces, falling flat on my face 20 times each recess, always had one shoe undone, it was hell.

I didn't learn how to do this until I was 9...same with learning to ride a bike. I was delayed with all of my gross and fine motor skills.

I didn't learn until I was about 13.

I had trouble remembering the steps, co-ordinating myself, and I was simply more bothered about other things.

growing up I had a lot of trouble learning how to tie shoelaces. and even today I'd rather wear slide on shoes even thought i can do it easily now.

Until I joined scouts I was horrible at any type of knots. I can do them now with no issues but i avoid them when possible.

When I was younger I most certainty had issues tieing my shoes.

Eventually, I just simply stuffed them in my shoes and called it a day.

Sometimes, I'd just scramble the laces within the other strings on my sneaker, much better as it didn't come as loose as often as stuffing it in my shoe did.

I had lots of problems learning to tie my shoes & I also had problems buttoning & zipping up my shirts too. I thought it was due to having Essential Tremors thou & had nothing to do with AS for me. I always wear shoes with velcro & T-shirts except when I have to get dressed up for something like a wedding, funeral or job interview

I remember when I was about 8 years old my teacher getting cross with me because I just couldn't tie my laces. I somehow got the hang of it though.

Nearly 30 years later a friend noticed that I tied them in a very strange and inefficient way, and showed me how to do them properly. Finally!

I'm 20 and I'm still unable to tie my shoes without using "bunny ears."
