I learned the hard way that you occasionally have to "talk yourself up," otherwise, the other chimpanzees.......I mean people.....will take it as a sign of weakness and attempt to "dominate" you.

So...yeah...I'm, like, totally bad-a and stuff. You don't be messin' wid me!

Anyway, I get accused of being "arrogant" enough that I've decided to wear it if the shoe fits.

Eh. If a person prefers for others to think highly of them then it is perfectly rational for them to try to encourage others to do so.

To be honest im the opposite to you guys, i brag all the time and usually more so then an n/t. However i find that this helps me fit in with n/ts better then my aspie counterparts.

I think the problem with alot of aspies is they take things way to literally, Even though im diagnosed with aspergers i find it alot harder to get along with an aspie then an n/t.

And people love my ego, but i guess some of it is acted as well. but when i look in the mirror i see a nice looking guy and i cant think im ugly because im clearly not.

I've got like a dual ego, I genuinely believe I'm just plain smarter and better than almost everyone, because this is what my accomplishments, test scores, and crap like that indicate.

Sometimes though I feel like I'm back in elementary school where everybody hates me and there is a literal genre of hundreds of jokes based on my supposed weirdness. Most of them involved incest. I still wish I'd brought a gun to school at some point, I would've been out a long time ago, and some people who bullied me wouldn't be happy with young families they don't deserve today.

It's mostly the first one though, sup ego buddy? You seem awesome, dude. Hope that helps your ego expand a 1/4 cm or so. Dude hit me up with some of that sweet compliment juice, I gotta know how better I am. Better than who? Uh uh. I don't play that way. I'm just plain better.

edit: I'm another guy who isn't ashamed of being handsome. I mean, objective parties without an outside interest have told me so, even times when I have a beard, which is always ugly due to poor beard genetics.

In high school i got teased for about 3 months but then i got sick of it and became the bully. so school wasnt to bad for me!

Yo man wassup yeah it went up a few notches because of that compliment. yeah you seem excellent and also rare because there doesnt seem to be alot of ego buddys around.

Im glad im not the only one lol, and also id never change my personality because its better then everyone else's.

1) people who brag to attempt attracting someone from the opposite gender (vanity at its finest, I mean stupidest).

2) People who think they have to have a pissing match over the most amazing or worst'est thing that EVAR has happened to them on planet earrrth! It can ONELY happen to THEEMM!

3) People who do something and just expect me to be pleased or just eat up whatever they just said to me just because they were able to influence other people to be gullible over them. Then they get mad at me for not following suit.

4) hypocrites, my ex-friend was all about this method.

5) People who brag on social networks, especially facebook. Notably vain women. Aka, it's your kid's birthday, but, instead of saying "happy birthday kid!! !" on facebook, they post a vain picture of themselves in a bikini when they were barely in the start of their pregnancy. Stuff like that.

it always seems that people, when they start to brag, I see their face, their mouth is moving, but the audio for some reason goes quiet on me and I'm stuck with that image of them with their flapping mouth going "blurgedy blurgety blurrg" in my brain. Then I secretly make fun of them in my head. It's like I have a brain block with paying good attention to people who I know are bragging. And shutting off the audio makes me laugh too because then I get to pay attention to the characteristic stupid faces people tend to make only when they brag. It's like watching a really ridiculous talk show on mute.

Isn't that crux of being an intelligent Aspie? I know my IQ is definitely higher than 90% of the populations', but my social skills are below that of the majority. Extreme strengths and deficits . . .

Egotistical behaviour bothers me a great deal. That's why I'm careful not to put on heirs.

I'm not a fan of egos myself. I don't see why some people always have the desire to be better than everyone around them, is there some competition going on that I don't know about? I think with this kind of attitude it can make people become more self absorbed and less caring of those around them. I treat everyone equally regardless of their status in society, its a shame most don't feel the same way.

I brag too much. When I do something well, I feel good about myself. I worry sometimes that this is off-putting to other people.

I am also happy when someone else does something well; so I don't think that my bragging is a way to declare superiority. It's more like me being happy about an accomplishment or a talent.

I need to learn how to celebrate my accomplishments without ever implying that others' accomplishments aren't just as good.

I don't like to pretend that what I do isn't any good--that kind of self-deprecating modesty seems kind of deceptive. It's like lying.

Is there a way to say "I did well" without implying "You didn't"? Because that would be ideal.

Yes but you overlook the good points of having a big ego such as.

Low depression
Low anxiety
Usually very optimistic
