I wouldn't call his an ailment per say, but I have a skin condition called dermographism. Honestly, as far as skin conditions go, I think it's pretty cool. It's known as the "skin writing" disease. Basically, if I go and scratch an itch, I will break out into hives/welts in the pattern that I scratched. I can actually scratch my skin in a picture or a pattern (not too hard, either) and the pattern will actually show up as a raised (sometimes itchy) welt on my skin.

Besides allergies, lactose intolerance, and the occasional intolerance to gluten, I'm very healthy.

That's a condition! 8O 8O I always thought everyone's skin did that! I was writing my name and drawing hearts on myself the other day for the heck of it.

Anyways, as far as weird or rare ailments, I have Ulcerative Colitis, which is an irritable bowel disease. "Have you ever heard of Crohn's Disease?", I keep asking people as a way of explaining w/o getting to graphic.,"Well it's sort of like it" My other rare ailment is Cyclothymia, which is a very mild but very unstable form of Bi-polar Disorder. I call it the AS of bi-polar, and it is mild enough that most people see it as an excuse for bad behavior and not a real issue. I know happens to a lot of Aspies. My moods can shift at the drop of a hat, and often happen when I wake up, so I don't see them coming.
I have other non-rare ailments, but I won't go into them.

Bowel issues seem to be common.

I get that sometimes. Indeed, I have a crack in my thumb right now. I also have Reynaud's syndrome, my hands are very sensitive to cold. It is related to my arthritis.
I also get the body itches a lot. I think its a response to fabric softeners.

Sincerely,
Matthew

I used to get full body cramps as a kid. I just remember screaming and not being able to move and my parents would have to lift me into bed until it wore off. I don't know what caused them.

A few including migrains caused by sodium nitrite preservative or not enough salt with dehydration caused migrains, bumps to head caused, dizzy caused, mixed drink or beer caused migrains faster then drunk so.. do not drink other then a bit of scotch. Bright lights when younger because my eyes were so pale, they have darkened with age. in 07 i was diangosed with MS after the now usual contrast MRI were done. I also have from mother side have moderate depression. the aspies from bio-father side. I had cataracts tht were likely triggered by the concentrated steroids they give you for MS as you decide which of the interferon beta's might be easiest or work. Some migrains still unsure of actual cause just specific meds fight well

This happens to my mom too. I've always chalked it up to the dry winter weather and the fact that she works with her hands, but it's kind of strange because she's the only person I know who gets it.

I won't list all of mine because the list is too long, but I have a fun one: Chronic Vomiting Syndrome! And yes, it's just what it sounds like. I have to take the same kinds of anti-nausea drugs that are usually given to chemotherapy patients, or else I will start throwing up and won't be able to stop. I have vomited myself to the ER too many times.

I suppose bowel issues have been mentioned numerous times on this one. Bowel issues are not unusual. Most people have bowel issues as they get older. I hate it when people think it's signifficantly related to Autism.

NTs get ailments, aches and pains too. NTs are not superhumans.

My issues started when I was about ten. That's round about 30 years of it now so I'm getting a little tired.

I didn't think anyone here was specifically mentioning their problems they have in relation to autism. Having said that, I do believe there have been a number of studies suggest a higher than average incidence of GI problems in those with autism. I wouldn't know, but I'll happily grumble about my problems whenever I get the chance :)

I occassionally get a weird throbbing pain in my toe, which lasts a day or two. The consultant says its on account of over pronation or whatever it is. My walk is as inconsistent as my handwriting.

I've some rashes that seem to be stress related, could be psoriasis or fungal.

Otherwise usual anxiety symptons from time to time.
