I do this to be sure that I'm not going to sound arrogant or mad when I say what I need to say.

I also tend to read, re-read, and again before I post or send email.

I often have to think about what I'm going to say before I say it. Usually if I'm with people I'm comofortable with though the conversation flows better. I try to be prepared beforehand so I can say what I want to say, but conversation isn't always predictable unfortunately.

Rehearse, review, re-evaluate.

Too often those are fruitless endeavors. I rehearse for a scenario that never arises, review a conversation with uncertainty of the other persons exact meaning, and reevaluate what I could or should have said to realize a more satisfying result, if not to fend off total social calamity.
Rehearsing a response to a review and re-evaluation is the most ineffectual and pointless effort, I have found, but I never seem to wise up to that. >gee<
I get engrossed in any or all of the 3 Rs, and everyone else moves on.
