So what I am about to say is not going to make me very popular, but I'm going to say it anyway. A person I know had a father who commited suicide when he was 16. It completely destroyed him and haunts him to this day. He now suffers from depression and uses alcohol to numb his pain. In my opinion, suicide is one of the most selfish things a person can do. It actually takes a lot more courage to live. Every problem in life is able to be fixed if a person is willing to take the initiative to change it.

Kurt Cobain had a long history of suicide in his family. both his grandfather and father commited suicide. He basically knew he was going to and hinted it in almost all his interviews on tv. The problem was, nobody payed attention to it and nobody seemed to try to help him.

You know I completley agree with you. Like I said - The only reason i've ever wanted to do it is to make people feel bad. In other words, selfish.

It takes alot of courage to live and people admire people like us (well that's what mum said, anyway).

Suicide in my opinion is shifiting your pain onto your loved ones. It's them that will have to pick up the pieces. And I agree, that is extremely selfish.

That quote just means that all problems in life are temporary. Everyone gets depressed, but suicide is not the answer. It wasn't a put down, so don't freak out. :x I'm done discussing this. :|

I did not take Bec and hale_bop's comments as put downs, they are absolutely right, suicide is the cowards way out, HOWEVER, I have illness that clouds my judgement at times..I can't help it...I know I'm being selfish, but when you feel as bad as I do sometimes the only person you think of is yourself. I'm seeing my pdoc today to get my meds adjusted.

Think of the all the cool stuff you will miss out on. The next Star wars, the next Harry Potter, the next U2 reunion, ad infinitum. We all live lives of "quiet desperation". You are too precious and too important to end it all. We have a rule where I work that " No one should ever make any life, love, or career decisions after working a "night-shift" Let's adapt this to your situation. You cannot make intelligent life-ordering decisions when you are in the midst of these seemingly monumental problems. Distance yourself by miles and time from the major difficulties and reassess the situation. You will find a lot more to live for than to end it all for. I care about you and I think you need to be here for as long as God wants you here. For what it's worth, Kenorri

It's not a put down. If you want examples of a put down I can provide some.

People that think of killing themselves aren't weak, or cowards. But alot of people that do do it for the wrong reasons, I know I did.

Not only have I raised the flag, I personally selected the material from "Fabric Warehouse", made a pole for it out of an old umbrella and did the fancy and rather snazzy little embroidery around its edges. (some people have pointed out to me that they don't think that yellow and pink gingham check really works around the edges of a white flag of surrender, but what do they know? I think it looks lovely..... Tasteless peasants..... :x)

Anyway, don't give me any of that "coward" cobblers - I'm only still here because I am a coward.... If I had any guts I'd have been singing in the Choir Invisibule and sitting on St. Peter's right hand :? a long time ago...... That old "coward's way out" schtick really makes my blood boil..... And why should some poor sod have to carry on suffering intollerably and interminably just for the benefit of a few others' sensibilities? That sounds like arch "selfishness" to me......
