I'm the exact same way about appreciating concrete ways of doing things. I relate to the bank account record keeping completely. I was meticulous to the penny and reconciling receipts and statements. My bf does his checkbook using the allotted columns for other than their listed purpose and I can't see how he works that out. Now that my income is much lower, I don't even keep my checkbook and rely on calling my bank for the automated information because I'm terrified of looking at the numbers when written so concretely.

As a preteen and teen, I studied hygiene and etiquette books (was a special interest for some reason) and noticed that the clear and concrete rules and formalities I found comforting and real to be completely ignored by most people. Instead, the vague, subtle rules of social contact eluded me and I was seen as cold or rude because I couldn't figure them out and would freeze or say/do the wrong thing.

Now that I'm the age I am, I have enough experience and frame of reference to deal with those, but something out of context will still baffle me.
