2 real life friends, 3 online friends and a varying number of imaginary friends.

Real life friends, unless you count the man I sometimes say hi to at the bus stop, would be zero.
I have 2 friends online, though, one of them I don't think he really considers me a friend as much as someone to talk about his sex life with, ueghh. I do have one good friend online, he doesn't judge me and we can say anything we want to each other and not be offended/ weirded out.
Sometimes we can go months without talking, then see each other online and talk about the usual random stuff as if nothing was different. I like that kind of friendship.

"Friend" is such a weird construct as many people and situations seem to define it differently. For example, I hate how facebook calls contacts your "friends".

But if we're talking with people who I talk with regularly and who I can count on to make time for me (and vice versa). I have around 12-14, with a few more that I will talk to/hang out with the odd time. There also seems to be a few people in my life who like me and want to hang out a lot, but I don't like them/want to see them or hang out to the degree that they do.

My diagnoses - social anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

I’m no longer involved with the ASD world.

One.

Of course I am courting her so the inevitable crash & burn is just a matter of time.

Then, zero again.

But today I'm high.

I have two friends whom I meet regularly and with whom I can discuss personal matters almost totally freely. One of them is an aspie too (without a dx, but I'm fairly certain about it), and the other one has traits. Besides my friends I have a fairly large circle of acquaintances, most of whom I don't keep track of. These people were my classmates, co-workers, accompanied me on bicycle tours etc. As a kid I considered only one person my "friend", this person was one of my cousins (I was false, obviously). I remember I had occasional "friends" with whom I could play, or even share some of my experiences and interests, but they weren't my friends, and I knew it even back then.

Oh, and I have at least one "online friend".

I don't know. I don't have anyone I see and talk to on a regular basis but my mother and I live with her.

I had a couple of friends from when I was younger but they live in another state now so I don't know if they count. I only see them for a week or so out of the year.

If you would define friend as non-relative that you can call up and go out and do things with then I'd say 0.

Among the 16 people who consider me a friend (yes, quite odd, I know), I can only say I trust 4 of them enough to let them know I have AS. The remainder of them occupy a stratified hierarchy consisting of Layer 1: people I may be able to tell when I determine they will not be prejudiced about it, and Layer 2: people I know for a fact will tell others, but won't judge me because of it. Those I tell I do so because questions start to arise as to why I act oddly.

I voted one, in the poll, then I remembered the other one.

How is it possible, when you only have two friends, to forget 50% of them?

But I did.

I struggle between the friend or acquaintance. I don't really hang out with anybody outside of a structured setting. I did find my freshman college roommate and I to be close, I'm not sure if we still are, but she knew everything about me and we helped each other with stuff. So I guess really 1 friend.

I do have plenty of "friends" on facebook, I think around 220. But I don't really talk to them.

This bought a lump to my throat. Someone I know but forgot to count did a really kind thing for me on my birthday but I was too far up my own backside to acknowledge it at the time or since. How hard can it be for me to pick up a phone? Yeah, well, hmm...

I have about 2 friends that are aspies. One I talk to one here and messages me via PM when I'm down and another I occasionally talk to on aim. He's undiagnosed but I'm 90% certain he's on the spectrum.
