I don't like the word and I'll say it again - you have far more reason to fear the normal non-creepy types than the creepy people so it's an unjust and stupid word.

Not really. Creepy people turn into a whole range of things. Non-creepy types don't really stalk you and such.

Anyone has the potential to stalk anyone.

Anyone has the potential to be a brain surgeon........see where I'm going with this?

No

You think a person has to look creepy to act creepy - that's exceedingly fallacious and puts you in potential danger

I never said a person has to look creepy to act creepy. Please quote me where I said that, because I did not. So please don't make lies up about me. I am saying that it is very creepy for people to do certain things, regardless of whether they are aspy or not.

I'm more open minded as regards peoples' behaviour and find the people who don't conform far more interesting than those who do. Calling someone creepy implies the sayer is the model of normality themself and I find this exceedingly tedious. I will immediately be on the side of the creepy person.

I prefer non-conformists too. I don't see what point you are trying to make?

That the word creepy is a conformist word that tries to bully a person into conforming to normal behaviour

Creepy is not a "conformist" word. There are creepy people out there. Not everyone is great and all.

I'd define them as dangerous not creepy

So someone who would stalk you in the middle of the night, tap of your window, hide outside with a knife, send you threatening phone calls.........you truly wouldn't find that creepy? You would not be at all creeped out by that?

Whatever my subjective feelings I can categorically state I would never use the term 'creepy' to describe it. I'd be scared or angry but not 'creeped-out' - it's one of a group of words/phrases that I dislike a lot.

If you would not be creeped out by that, then I know you are lying. You just don't want to admit that I am right and you are wrong. It seems to me that you just want to argue. I am trying to have a discussion, and you are arguing. So I am going to take the high-road here and leave. I think this thread may be going a bit off topic. I won't respond to anything else you say here.

In regards to the OP. I think it was a creepy thing to do, but I don't think you are creepy. Just to clarify.

How can I be lying about my own thoughts??!

I dislike the word creepy and in no way would I see butting in to a conversation as creepy anyway. Rude or abrupt perhaps but not creepy. A person's use of language speaks reams about them and over-use of the word creepy to describe a person as opposed to say a dark forest implies intolerance of difference to me.

I don't see why the hell you would do that. They didn't seem to be insulting or even really condescending. As far as I'm concerned, you probably just worked towards creating more prejudices.

I think I would turn around and tell them my daughter has AS. I don't know that turning around and saying something, in and of itself, is wrong. Unless you are scowling or something. But I think most people realize if you are walking down a public hallway, talking, that people might overhear what you are saying. Because they were in walking down a public hallway that you happened to be walking down as well, I wouldn't consider it creepy or wrong.

They may have laughed, but they probably were embarrassed. Most people are decent people and they both probably felt uncomfortable being "caught."

I'm actually glad you said something. I think people have an ever-decreasing sense of privacy these days and I think people should be more aware of their surroundings when having a conversation about something that someone else might interpret as offensive.

I would never attempt to educate an NT as regards anything these days to be quite honest - I prefer to leave them to their ignorance and get away from them ASAP.

I don't think what the OP did was creepy or seen as potentially dangerous. The thing is people do join other people's conversations randomly....the OP just didn't follow the social protocol for doing so. Maybe she was supposed to say "sorry to interrupt your conversation but I overheard you and I have AS and what you said about......isn't accurate because....." instead of just blurting out that she had AS. When I was talking to another co-worker at my last job and another NT coworker wanted to interject she would say "sorry to interrupt but I accidentally overheard you....". This lady was very socially adroit and it definitely wasn't creepy. The thing is though the OP's action should be mitigated by the fact that she said she has AS and the two girls who were talking should have thought "okay she broke social protocol,....but she has AS and people with AS have trouble with social interaction" and then been okay with the way she blurted out her contribution to the conversation and continue to interact normally and include her but I guess they didn't know much about AS in the first place so it's a bit of a catch 22.

OP- I think you were brave- I wouldn't have the courage to say anything at all and would probably just be annoyed about it for the rest of the day.
