If he doesn't realize this is unacceptable behavior he deserves to be banned.

Playing games made by other people is a privilege not a right.

He blew it and the only thing that will communicate that he learned from the experience is to move on. The solution to being banned for harassment is not harassment.

Now, a case could be made that many video games are targeted at people with mental disorders and re-enforce and exacerbate OCD and other such behavior, so maybe being banned is a good thing?

It's a video game. Nobody needs to get lawyers involved in it.

It's_a_video_game.

Exactly how important is this?

Again, video game.

Switch to Frogger, it's much more fun.

I see absolutely no connection between video games and OCD. The amount of ignorance regarding OCD is astounding.

No it was more about the aspie obsessing over a situation that happened between him and the Bipolar person. The aspie wouldn't let it go because he couldn't stop obsessing over it and he had to have it resolved before he could move on. So he kept messaging them Bipolar person and that is harassment. People call that OCD, even professionals.

I can relate but I wouldn't go and harass the person about it because I know dong that will just get them mad and get me into trouble for harassment. It may not have been his intent to harass him but it was harassment. Even if the Bipolar person did it intentionally to get the aspie banned, he needs to learn to be strong by not letting his OCD get that bad he starts harassing people when they refuse to resolve something so they ignore them. I can see he was trying to be strong by trying to not call them to get back into the game.

I would imagine Blizzard has quite a few Aspie employees.

Is there more to this story?

What did the AS person do? Did he use racial slurs? Employ hacking software? The nature of the issue IS important.

I can give more details later but the short version is there is an aspergers kid with a bipolar best friend. When the bipolar friend got mad at the aspergers kid, she would trigger his OCD and get him banned. This was done until the asperger's kid was permanently banned from WoW. The bipolar friend would later apologize for her episodes and picking on the aspergers kid but rather than being understanding and unbanning the aspergers kid, Blizzard sent lawyers after him. Blizzard further bullied, provoked and antagonized the aspergers kid and then blamed him, belittling him for his obvious mental disability. This has been happening for over a year with Blizzard continuing to bully the aspergers kid. His life has been a total wreck since the incident, and shows no signs of improving; he spends 8+ hours a day calling Blizzard to no avail.

- Please ask questions to know more about the story. I want to get the word out about this.

If blizzard is treating him differently because of his AS then blizzard should be sued for discrimination.
Ultimately if blizzard wants to ignore facts from both sides, then I'd say stop playing their games altogether, there's little to be gained from continuing to play their games if this sort of thing has been proven to happen.

My advice for this kid is to just stop calling blizzard, because they won't change their minds, and they won't revisit the "case", so it's better just to forget it and move on.

I just wanted to say that this person's actions probably have nothing to do with being bipolar. I am bipolar, and I would never do something like that, even while manic. Blame her actions on being a pr*ck, not being bipolar.

Pretty much what I think too.

<-- someone who is in a long-term relationship with someone bipolar.

What's it to make one more ridiculous blanket statement festering with dichotomy. The more I see you post, the more annoying you get in that regard.

Again, the way your words imply, that we're good for nothing without bipolar people to befriend us. Sure bipolar people can relate to me because their neurology is different too, but it's not the only example of a friendship someone can have with us and I wish you could see outside of that box.

It's possible that this story will be publicized soon via media that I contacted trying to get the story out. An article/segment on how autistic people are handled in online games and the challenges they face. I'm hoping this goes well. I don't want to leak too much or get hopes up too high but I really hope this forces Blizzard to take a look at how they're handling people like me and hopefully this helps everyone. Education about us is important.

This is why I don't play online games which involve interaction with humans! I prefer playing the Sims 3...

Plus my computer is crud and I need a new one....
