Have you ever had someone hate you for being 'quiet'?

I have been accused of being stuck up, arrogant, snobby, aloof, unfriendly etc because I sat quietly and didn't say much. Also I don't like rushing in as I don't like being the center of attention in real life. I prefer to observe before joining in, this can also make people think I am being stand offish.

Also I may just need some quiet time so people think I don't like them because I keep wandering off to be on my own. Or I get distracted by something of interest (either externally such as an interesting display in a museum) or internally (ie thoughts about my tapestry or knitting list and which projects I am working on next) and get separated from the group (wander off either physically or in my mind) as a result. This also makes people think I don't like them especially if I get distracted whilst they were talking to me and I stop paying attention to them.

I don't mean to be rude though, it is not deliberate. I try not to do it but don't always realise I have become distracted until, well, I find myself standing there alone wondering where the hell everyone else disappeared off to.

Of course it was I that had wondered off, not them. They were busy looking for me!

To NTs arrogant and stuck up are often different ways of saying the same thing
