In case anyone is curious, this is where I read what I posted earlier: http://parentingaspergers.com/blog/aspe ... 99-eating/

Eloa wrote:

This started right from birth and age 1 I already had underweight.
This is still a big issue for me and now as I have formed attachment to my psychologist the aim is to use this attachment to incorporate into feeding myself.
But it's a hard one.
I do not count calories or anything, I just have trouble feeling the sensation of being hungry and if (low bloodpressure) to perform the actions what it takes to provide me with food.
I am very picky in eating and only eat one food at a time (if there is a salad I would start eating the corn, then the tomatoes and go onlike that).
The food can touch though.

Same actually. Since I was an infant, I apparently would barely eat at all. Food is boring to me.
If I had the choice to lose the ability to eat but then never have to eat again, I would take it immediately.

Yes, there should be a "take-once-a-month-all-in"-pill.
And a person reminding me of it, because it is likely I would forget about it.

Me too. I want to replace food with nutrition pills. So does my father. We don't like the hassle of cooking and eating and cleaning.

Food tastes nice.

I'm a chunky bird and don't know if I have Asperger's or not though.

I was underweight as a kid. As an adult, hypothyroidism keeps me slightly over weight.

It is all too complicated.
My father does cook from time to time, because one of his SI's is fish in any form, including dead fish.
But he says he finds no sense in socializing and now he has a girlfriend, who is extremely social and invites people to stay for a couple days and my father says he is just thinking about what he could do instead of spending time with the people in his house.
I still believe in a genetical component in autism.

I used to be underweight, just because I was an energetic 12 year old. But I still loved food. Now, my BMI is on the low end of normal. I have been hypoglycemic, although not often. This is because I usually don't eat when I'm not hungry, unless there's something extremely tasty. Once I woke up at 6:00 AM and my hands were shaking. I think it's because I hadn't eaten dinner the night before. Another time I had to sprint like crazy at around 4:00 PM (Don't ask) and then had to drive somewhere at 6:00. I hadn't eaten anything and I honestly almost passed out after I got there. I couldn't see anything, felt cold, then I sat down and felt somewhat better. My mom is very into healthy lifestyles so there isn't much junk food in my house. We just make sandwiches, eat fruit smoothies, etc. I am not active in the winter though, I just sit around. Last summer, I ate nothing but junk food but that was because I was working in another state. The work was entirely physical though, so I guess the junk food didn't really do anything weight wise.

I was of normal weight growing up, but about the time I turned 16 I became underweight. Senior year in high school I weighed 98lbs. All I could figure was that I had a very high metabolism. People would make fun, but this was probably the only insult/joke I was ever able to shrug off as I figured what I had was a blessing. Enjoy it while I can.

I never ate healthy, and easily fell into routines. When I was 16, I would eat Slim Jim's for lunch every day; 17, Jack in the Box tacos; 18, Burger King Chicken Fries; 19, chik-fil-a chicken nuggets; 20-23, Jack in the Box tacos again. And I would also drink tons of coke, and eat other various high calorie meals for dinner. I did not eat breakfast because I preferred to sleep.

From age 16 to 25 I remained underweight, though did gain 15lbs briefly in 2002 when I finally moved out, but it was quickly lost when I started working again (walk/standing) as well as walking a ton around college. In 2007, age 25, I graduated and got a full time job where I sat on my butt all day and played with a computer. I ended up gaining 5 lbs a month. After gaining 15 pounds (5 over the underweight/normal BMI barrier) I started drinking water at work and switched to diet soda at home.

I maintained this balance but never could lose the weight. This was annoying because I no longer could wear many articles of clothing that I had worn since the 90s, and despite being in the normal BMI range, still fairly close to under, I now had a muffin top. In 2010 I managed to gain 10 more pounds. It took me quite a while to lose it, and no sooner than I did did I become pregnant. I didn't show until way later, and it seemed to all come at once, literally. I ended up gaining 12 lbs in one week, but it was a medical issue, and I ended up losing 30 lbs the week following the Caesarian. So now I'm 128lbs on a good day, with a 5'4" frame, and 3 months since my pregnancy. I am in the normal BMI range, but due to low muscle tone, my weight is carried differently, proving the index to being complete baloney. Jiggly is not "normal!"

Is 130 Pounds underweight for a 17 year old male?

I tend to skip lunch, although when dinner rolls around my mom says I easily eat three times as much as my brothers o_o

And the only one lighter than me is the 4th grader xD

I have had issues with my weight since I was 13 the only time I was really thin was when I was very sick about three years ago with gallstones, fatty liver, low liver levels and kidney levels I ended up getting my gallbladder out I ended up losing 31 kilograms I have put the weight back on now but I have alot of problems still with food and my stomach. I tend to comfort eat when I am depressed, stressed and have anxiety or I don't eat at all which has been happening lately.

I am overweight according to the BMI index. I enjoy eating very much, and always have. According to my mother I screamed for more food even when I was a baby, and consequently I was a fat baby. I will eat almost anything, except animal products.
My brother is the opposite. He has never had an interest in food, and when he was about 20 and went to live independently he soon became malnourished. He didn't like that though, so now he eats to stay healthy.

Not underweight, not overweight, just average.

My diet is far from ideal, since I don't really eat much in the way of fruits and veggies (hate the texture of most fruits, hate the taste of most vegetables). I just don't eat too much.

I also don't eat when I am not hungry. I have no emotional attachment to food.

If people have an emotional attachment to food, that is reeeeally strange.

The emotional attachment thing could mean eating for comfort, such as eating when one is upset or stressed.
It could also just mean having normal amount of preference with food or the desire to eat (which I consider different than feeling hunger.) I very rarely feel a desire to eat, and most all foods seem the same to me. Either I dislike a food, or it's neutral. So I feel no drive to eat anything and it can be hard to choose what to eat and know when I need/should eat.

I should mention there are foods I become "obsessed" with. For example, I've eaten rice noodles for breakfast almost everyday for a month straight now. I do this a lot. But other than those special foods, I don't care for much else.
