The only real reason I wear them is because I have no other option; TMI alert: I have 'dry eye syndrome', aka keraconjunctivitis sicca, which means no contacts for me.

As an aside, I am near-sighted. So, yes.

Definitely contacts, sure the first 2 weeks are a pain, but after that its easy to take them in and put them out, takes like 5 sec per eye.

THen if you wash your hands with neutral soap, you have no problems at all.

There is nothing worse than glasses, everything i did back when i had glasses they got in the way.

Running, the glasses jump all around up and down on the nose or falls off entire.
Swimming you cant swim with glasses, and you cant see without them.
Walking outside when its rains, rain gets on the glasses and you cant see anything.

Glasses are just way more trouble than they are worth. Definitely 110% prefer contacts linses.

Also think about this if you are a driver or drive a lot of car. i really dont so not a problem. But if you have glasses and an airpack hits you in the face. yeah. someone my mother knew, almost went blind, because the airpack shattered the glasses and pieces when into the eye.

Im really surprised there isnt a huge warning or thats even allowed, i mean imagine getting a hard ballon smashed right in your face while wearing glasses, thats just a recipe for disaster. and yet many people doesnt seem to think about it at all. Getting hit in the face like that with contacts again does nothing. Granted the airbag is supposed to hit you in the chest neck area, but when people are shorter than average well. its something to think about.

I am extremely nearsighted. I cannot function without glasses or contacts. That being said, I wear both. I wear my contacts when I'm going out or if I'm at work. If I'm at home, I wear my glasses. I love my contacts, as long as they aren't causing problems. When they're uncomfortable or if I have something in them, they're horrible.

I never needed glasses until the last 4 years or so, so I put no. I apparently had long vision and was told by one optician I had exceptional focusing powers and 20/20 vision. These days I need them but that's presbyopia which everyone gets!

I think is just because the percentage of autistics can not wear contacts, is higher than the percentage of NTs who can't. Also, I'd say more autistics (or rather, a higher percentage) don't care about looks than than NTs, and people who don't care go for the more practical, cheaper option.
I'm very short sighted, but even glasses cause me pain. I can't do contacts, because shops won't let you buy them if you can't show them that you can put contacts in, and take contacts out, which is something I can't do when I've got an optician staring at me. So I just go without anything, occasionally holding a pair of glassed in front of my face when watching T.V. or whatever :P.

I have both glasses and contacts but I prefer to wear contacts. I used to get really stressed out when I first tried to put them in but now it only takes a few minutes, I hated having to do it in front of the optician at first but it's just normal now and I think they are easier and better than glasses especially if you're swimming or playing sports where glasses are just a huge annoyance.

Oh my God, I'm practically blind without my glasses! I've been wearing glasses since seventh grade. My mom thought I was trying to get attention just because my dad and most of my friends were starting to get glasses, but then it turned out I really DID need them! So I'm very near-sighted and have astigmatism. I think I might have to schedule another eye exam since it's gotten to the point where I can barely see a few feet in front of me without the glasses and the lenses are scratched up. Plus, it's been almost two years since my last appointment anyway. :p

Legally blind without my glasses. Started to wear glasses in kindergarden

No contacts for me. The only ones suitable are the rigid ones, which feels like sand in my eyes
after less than half a day.

Presently I need glasses with about -11 diopters, and a little astigmatism of about -2.5 diopters on top of that.....

My vision is good. I find it strange that both my parents require eye glasses but my three siblings and I do not.

Yes, my vision is pretty bad, so I wear glasses.

I am SUPPOSED to wear glasses but I can't. I can't stand the feel of them on my face. I am constantly adjusting them and it just makes me more nervous and fidgety. Other than that I am ok with it. I have astigmatism bad in my left eye with a lil near-sightedness and almost the opposite in my right eye. Too weird. Most of the time I find glasses just don't help at all. I used to get them yearly, just because, but now I just saw Eh oh well and save my money.

I wore glasses as a kid, but my eyesight corrected itself and I no longer where them.

I wear glasses due to astigmatism (in both eyes). But like you said, I don't think the numbers mean anything as far as whether people with an ASD are more prone to needing them or not.
I think it's infinitely more likely that most people wear glasses, largely due to unrelated issues such as genetic disorder (astigmatism is a good example of that because it's genetic), or simply age.

It's reasonable to assume that most in the world are adults, it's also reasonable to assume that most of those adults are in their 30's and up. And since we know that age plays a very large factor in eyesight, it's reasonable to propose that most people wear glasses due to age alone and that a poll of a diverse community (even a forum) would be affected by those numbers.
I think a study would be good, but I think it's wise to use a select age group for any possible correlation between the two, simply due to age playing a factor, probably ages 8-20 because most of the time eyesight is at it's optimal performance within those ages and one could use two groups (ASD vs. NT) and see who has the highest factor in need for glasses (both with equal number participants).

My vision is really terrible. I used to wear contacts, but I feel as though I'm wasting money when I buy them, so now I'm back to the glasses.

EDIT: In light of the previous post, I'm in my early 30's but have worn glasses since I was four.

I've worn glasses since I was 2, I don't see any relation to autism, though. I have met autistic people who have good eyesight and have never needed glasses or contact lenses.
