I'm happy being Catholic but I'm still searching for correct expressions of God and His word, not knowing what God has in store for Aspies like me. I don't question His word but the Bible only talks about the divine side of Jesus & not His human side. That's the only part of God's Word which I really would like to find out more about.

consider this: christ felt hungry, sad, lonely forsaken and yes cold (when he was looking for figs, when his friend lazarus died, at agony in the garden, betreyal of judas then peter and at his birth) so that is a very human act. to make it more concrete meditate on this, christ had friend and lived in this world.

well i didn' say twelve friends, apostles who were his inner friends, his closest friends. but surely he would have had more. he was a carpenter, and travelled a lot so surely hew would have had more.

My beliefs are very internal and personal and I don't discuss them on a public forum. The same goes for my political beliefs. I am in the minority on this board in both areas. I have a strong personal belief in God and a love of His creatures.

All right. Christ had 12 friends so how human could that be?

I pretty much tried everything over the years to deal with life. Christianity works best for me. It's that simple. I find the idea of no God, no purpose, and complete randomness to be too horrible to contemplate. The people in my church have been a great positive influence, keeping me connected to the world.

As far as the Marxist assertion that "all religions are hierarchical and about controling citizens," I would suggest you research the Quakers and the Bible's influence on the American Revolution; the Puritan influence on Cromwell and the English Revolution; and -- since his holiday in the US just passed -- the actions of Martin Luther King and his call for the promised land, which was hardly a lovefest with the prevailing power structure.

There are other religious non-conformists -- John Brown, Simone Weil, Francis of Assisi, Bonhoeffer, Hildegard von Bingen, Martin Luther, Jan Hus, John Wycliffe -- who have challenged the power and ideology of dominant social institutions.

Although I'm not a church goer,I've found there is a
lot of wisdom in the Bible,as I'm sure there is in other
religious books.I respect anyone who chooses not to
believe in God,but before dismissing religion I'd recommend reading the Bible.People may be
surprised to hear that it predicted the Chernobyl nuclear disaster (in Revelations it says that a star
called Wormwood will fall to earth.Chernobyl means
'wormwood' in Ukranian)

I believe in God.

But in NO way am I spiritual nor religious.

I'm an Aspie. I like God and Hershey's Chocolate. And sunshine.

Athiest.

I very much identify with the extremely rational and logical characteristic many aspies report. After spending quite some time in organized religion and researching and learning about many others I came upon naturalism. I am now an evolutionary biologist.

I have to be careful in my discussions with theists as discussion tends to aggrevate me quite a bit. I try to be as understanding as possible - but I also identify quite strongly with the aspie characteristic of being impatient when people don't understand my black and white point of view.

Nothing makes me feel more uncomfortable/anxious as meeting a person who denies science based on teachings from some religious leader who has absolutely no idea what they are talking about.

Yet one more person misinterprets science. The Universe is not in true chaos. If it was then the laws of physics would collapse and reform on a irregular basis. the universe is semi-ordered chaos. You can predict the outcome of events with some certainty as long as you can admit you may be wrong. I don't see why no purpose is horrifying. Anything else means life is pre-determined by some old guy in the sky, meaning you have no free will or self-control. Basically The Martix. Then I would try to break the controlled fate and destory the universe. It's quite possible actually, if you ripped a single hole in reality it would collapse instantly. Returning us to the zero state AKA true void.

MORE insane prophecy?! People have been basing on those prophecies for hundreds of years! Their to **** vauge to make anything from.

I've actually read the ENTIRE Bible, Qu'Ran and Talmud. Honeslty the Bible is the most insane of the three. Did you know your supposed to kill people who eat anything without scales from the sea? And kill people who light fires on Sabbath? Git yer gun and go shoot them city slickers then commit suicide for sinning.

I'm to Strong Atheist and Stronger then ever!

The bible is one of the more disturbing books of fiction I have read. I mean it says those that don't believe in jesus (non christians), shall be killed.

Makes H.P. Lovecraft look like Lewis Carroll.

I was baptized and raised Roman Catholic and went to a Catholic school for nearly nine years. But I'm now 28 and agnostic. The more I learn about religions, the more I feel that I'm leaning toward atheism.

so refreshing to be around some like-minded people. North America is overwhelingly religious and it's suffocating.

Do you guys find that many aspies share the hardline athiest approach? At least more common than amongst NT's?
