@Who_Am_I: Good call. I should have made that an option.

Social issues, definitely. I don't even experience the other problems, and even my social life is going pretty well. For me, AS is more a quirk than an impairment, though it wasn't always like that...

@Tiggurix: I'm happy to hear that. What helped you improve so greatly?

@Fnord: I understand what you're getting at, that it's mostly people's misunderstandings about what Asperger's is that bothers you. But I'd still put all that under the "Social Issues" category as the difficulty and frustration is coming from other people, regardless of how well one can socialize with them. All 4 of those "others" begin with People, so I'd put it all under the heading of Social Issues.

For me it would be my compulsive behavior.

I have a really bad time with sensory issues. Sound is killing me and I'm spending my life with my fingers in my ears, worried about where the next noise will come from. I also have a bad time with tactile sensory issues, where even being in bed can be difficult.

All of this is compounded by PTSD, which I acquired in a war zone.

Things have improved a bit though. Three years ago I was in court because I picked a fight with a noisy guy, which ended in me laying on the ground being kicked in the ribs.

I voted social issues. Things aren't as bad as they had been when I had been growing up, when I had not a clue what I was doing wrong around other people, but neither is the situation perfect, either. I still don't make friends easily, and often feel isolated. I don't need to be able to read people's emotions in order to know something about me is off putting. Without my wife and daughter, I don't know what I'd do.

Yeah. Agreed. Frustrations with this usually lead to my meltdowns.

Being alive without being thought of as some freak to be cast aside from society!

Being too easily overwhelmed. Concentration problems. Not being able to get into stuff I find boring.

Other > Obsessive thoughts (that involves difficulty to concentrate).

But anyway, I got the best part of Asperger and the worst one of OCD, so it's not really representative.

Social and verbal. Don't try to tell me something, I won't understand it. Show me what you want done. Social because I want to ask a question or want to watch someone working on their machine, but I don't have the courage ask because I will probably sound creepy. Yesterday I asked a guy if I could watch him manually repairing parts on a lathe and he said it was okay but the look on his face told me that I was creeping him out. I have that killer vibe people say.

I said social issues but what I actually mean is prejudice. I can get along just fine with the people close to me, and I don't feel deprived of social contact or anything, but I wish I didn't have to worry about losing a job or being victimized because my facial expression or gestures seemed odd and someone got suspicious that I might be one of those eeevil autistic people.

Social issues, sensory issues, and meltdowns. Those are the worst aspects for me.

For me, I would say the social issues as the thing that led me to get diagnosed was being kicked out of an internship program because I focused too much on what I was doing to engage in small talk with others. It's also made it extremely difficult to get jobs in general because while I look great on paper, the interview is where things screw up.

It used to be social issues. Now it's anxiety which has caused me to have depersonalization/derealization.
