Your diagnostic report at least tries to clarify it and give a reason. Mine does not. I was given the following contradicting information verbally: 'You can differentiate between an Asperger's and a PDD-NOS easily.' and 'We just can not know by the available information.' (after they interviewed me and my parents, administered tests, and was provided several related material evidences such as photos, sound recordings, even some school materials).

The bolded part actually made me laugh. Not at your plight, but at their ignorance.

In the US, whether you get PDD-NOS or AS as a diagnosis seems to depend more on where you go for your diagnosis than it does on your actual presentation. I wouldn't be surprised if something similar were true elsewhere.

Yes, I think this is true. It's absurd that my doctor doesn't diagnose ADULTS with Asperger's if they don't have hand-flapping or rocking (seriously, how many children with these behaviors still have them as adults? I know many who don't). I have heard of other doctors simply looking for these things in childhood. I even provided him with childhood videos showing rocking and hand-flapping (BOTH of them), and he still noted that I don't "currently" express these behaviors, at the age of 26.

I tried to get diagnosed with Asperger's when I was in the military, too, and they said I didn't have it because I made eye contact (lol), so they diagnosed me with AvPD instead.

One of my acquaintances also has been diagnosed with AvPD in the military. So much luck we have. :)
