The majority of TV shows beginning with the word "Celebrity...". If I wanted to watch people making an arse of themselves in a variety of painful ways, I'd watch Takeshi's Castle. I can stand stuff like Strictly Come Dancing, because it's a money-raiser and is actually good TV, but brainless crap like Celebrity Love Island I can do without.

In a similar vein, I really hate it when I'm surrounded by inane celebrity gossip (or any gossip, for that matter). I've never really seen the point of knowing who's going out with who in LA, considering I know none of them and will never do so. Flipping through a magazine or two at lunchtime is an interesting diversion once in a while, but that's it - I haven't got the compulsion to know about Tom Cruise's love life that some people have got.

Reality TV in general annoys me. It's cheap, boil-in-the-bag television that requires little or no effort on the part of the TV company producing it, and also makes stars of the stupid and/or clinically insane. One particular "star" by the name of Jade Goody now earns millions in TV royalties because she appeared on the idiot-fest that is Big Brother a few years back, and didn't know that the region she lives in (East Anglia) was part of the United Kingdom. I despair.

Fanaticism about sport, and the way that it is somehow okay to name your child after, let's say, the entire 1978 Liverpool football team, is something that ticks me off. Apparently it's fine for a football fan to paint their face and look like a total muppet when they go to a game, but it's not okay for me to walk around in public wearing a Spider-Man t-shirt. One gets the football supporter praised as a real fan, and the other gets me branded as a total loser.

In another link-tastic move, I'm going to mention how irritated I get about the way that knowing the minutest details about a football team's history is somehow a good thing, but for me to know that Fantastic Four vol 1, issue 48 is the first appearance of Galactus and the Silver Surfer apparently makes me a social outcast...

Melancholy Bunny,

That bugs me too! I used to work as a proofreader for my local newspaper and all of the spelling, grammatical, and factual errors drove me crazy!

Women's magazines with all their inane diets and celebrity gossip give me the complete pip!

I'm also annoyed by mexican freshmen who try acting black and saying words like "dawg" and "foo" and "Whatup homie?".

MrSinister, I agree with you about the trivia thing. If some NT knows a Baseball players stats, that's kewl and acceptable, if I know the engine displacement for a certain Ferrari, that's weird and disturbing. Hey mate, take yer flippin' Baseball stats AND yer opinion, and go away ! ! The same for when I wear a Pink Floyd T-shirt, and people ask "Aren't you a bit too old to wear that?" Weeeeelllllll, excuse me for not liking U2 ! !!

Definitely.

There were lots of times published works had errors.

I also hate it when someone continually doesn't understand me and applies what they think I mean, even when I've explained >twice.

I also hate the new cars; how the seats are cold and smooth and form-fitted. How they are excessively sleek and shiny. How the doors don't slam!

I also hate it when people treat animals like slaves or playthings, and punish them.

Plus, when someone other than the artist sings a song: they add extra words, ruining the beat.

People who dress and/or act stereotypically and then get very upset when people react to that stereotype. Like "goths" who wear black and more black and even more black and stare at people with undisguised loathing--and then get all sad when no one wants to be around them. Or the black kids or hispanic kids who DRESS TO STEREOTYPES with baggy clothes and big jewelry and walk around with a punk attitude and talk in ebonics or slang or lazy English or whatever---and then stand up in class and berate the world for having the audacity to think that just 'cause they are wearing baggy clothes that they're a drug dealer gang member. That BUGS ME.

I agree about the trivia. I have to be careful not to talk too much about Roger Bannister, but other people think nothing of gossiping about the current lame celebrity is okay.

The way in Windows you have to reboot the machine practically everytime you make a major change unlike in Linux or Mac OS.
