I didn't learn how to tie my shoes until about two years ago, when I was about 25. My hands and brain just couldn't figure it out. My dad worked with me for a really long time, and I finally was able to do it. Now the only problem is that I often don't tie them tight enough and they come untied when I'm walking the dogs at the park sometimes.

I'm serious, actually. I always wear these...

I only learned to tie my shoelaces at 15, poor manual dexterity and a fear of touching shoelaces once they touched the ground contributed. :(
I usually don't bother untying my shoes now.

I was about eight or nine when I learned. I remember I was sitting on the floor in school with my class, watching some sort of thing in the library and just...bam. It clicked.

My room is completely disorganized and messy, yet I know instantly when something has been moved. People touching my things is just about the worst thing ever.

I tie my shoes backwards. I guess when my mom taught me to tie them, she showed me from in front of me rather than next to me, and I copied what she did. I wasn't even aware I did it until I tried to tie a bow in a ribbon to hang over my fireplace at Christmas. It kept coming out wrong, and I noticed that the strip that would go on the front of the bow and make it look complete kept going under the bow instead of over it. I happen to metion to my boyfriend at the time that I tie my shoes backwards and he said "I know you do. " Apparently it was more noticeable to others than to me.
