I agree with Troy, and also feel that as we have trouble making friends and have difficulties because of our differences, we appreciate the value of friendship more, realise the importance of mentors, and are more likely to reciprocate.
It should make us more understanding, more likely to help, but still misunderstood.
Don't know that it makes us any better though
