I always give people talking on BlueTooth headsets a funny look, just to get even with them for all the funny looks I've gotten over the years. Thinking out loud is perfectly normal and can be very therapeutic. Those who give funny looks are probably leading really empty, messed up lives if they never think out loud.

it can not be said to be normal or abnormal.

i talk to myself sometimes, but i am not a good listener, and so i often fail to understand what i say.
when i fail to understand what i am saying (because i am not interested), i tell myself to shut up, but i also see the reasons why i should continue arguing with myself (and no other participants) because the "issue" is not resolved.

i did not get to see a sixty minutes episode last week due to the fact that i was locked in an internal debate. i could not relinquish myself from an ideological dilemma, i told my self to shut up constantly, but i always found reasons to say more.
so whatever.

You, and yourself, ought to see a marriage counsellor!

A few of you said what I was going to: put in a fake phone earpiece. I see so many people who look like they are talking to themselves, and then I see the Bluetooth device and realize what's really going on. This is what I should do--guess I've stopped caring what others think, however. :P

@Joe90: I slipped on the ice in February and no one seemed to notice or care. However, I ended up with a really badly sprained wrist that put me out of work for two weeks. If anyone had noticed...wonder what the reaction would have been.

@neilson_wheels: I WAS wearing winter boots--didn't matter. :(

So far I find it a rewarding thing to do. Sometimes verbalizing my thoughts can be a help. If my reasoning is off, it seems easier for me to recognize that when I hear the nonsense spoken aloud. It also keeps me from perseverating so much; I soon tire of hearing myself over-think things.

Well this is by far a good enough reason for talking to yourself and ignoring the crazy talk of other people.

You can do it safely in places where there's a lot of people. There's already a lot going on as it is, that people won't usually notice.

But yeah, I like to "think out loud" too. I don't see anything wrong with that.
