I'm serious,if there was a cure,i'd destroy it.

Me interested in:Computers, gaming and rock or:

Me interested in:Football,sex and rap.

I prefer teh first one INFINITY TIMES OVER AND I WOULD PSOT TEH SECOND ONE!! !! !

Well, of the three "Aspie" interests you listed:
Computers: Interested, but they aren't one of my MAIN interests
Gaming: Never been interested
Rock: I like some of it

Of the supposedly "NT" interests:
Football: Usually only interested if my college's team is playing, will very occasionally watch other games on TV if my dad's watching and I'm bored
Sex: Quite interested
Rap: I like a lot of it

Maybe you wouldn't like sex or rap even if you were NT.

No way! I'm very, very proud of being an Aspie. It provides me lots of advantages. Yes, I can't function some days, but I'll take the good with the bad. Curing autism is just a bad idea. So is curing any of the other neuropsych conditions, from OCD to schizophrenia. We need diagnostic tests so we can say for sure what's wrong and which meds will work and better treatments so people can manage their lives and not be debilitated, but I strongly believe that all neuropsych conditions provide people with unique talants.

No. I don't know if I have AS yet, even though the arrows are pointing towards yes. I am ASD though and that would probably fall under that category. I wouldn't take it because it would remove my personality and I doubt there would be anything left.

Cure Neurotypicals Now, you mean? (Isn't cafepress great? ;) )

No, I wouldn't be cured. AS is a part of who I am, and I have come to accept that. to "cure" me would not just relieve me of the negative aspects, but destroy all the positive things I have spent a life time learning to use to my advantage. What is the point of starting over, and learning to be like everyone else?

NO!! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! ! NO!! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !!
several reasons

1} what would be the point, i mean, then why would i have written a book about AS
2} it they did give me a cure, then i would still be an aspie, AS molded my personallity in some sorts
3} everything would be boring
4} i wouldn't be able to make people say "Quinn you are NOT autistic" when i am at school and they ask about my book or it i tell them about it.

:D

The idea of a "cure" is ludicrous. Anyone who advocates this idea is a simpleton.

Ironic really, I don't fit in much of anywhere, even among my Aspie peers.

i wonder why you consider yourself a minority?
you mean you have asperger friends in real life ?
or do you mean on wp? (that seems rather unprobable since you're here from the 13th of january, or did you have a reincarnation ?)

i wouldn't like to loose my logical capacities, i really enjoy them but being able to understand nt's
sounds interesting (although i don't think there is something to understand, i just suspect they are pretending more than we know and certainly more than we do)

The idea of a cure for AS is preposterous. You might as well make a cure for blue eyes...

That being said, if there was one, would I want it? Hell no! There are some things I could do without, like the social anxiety, the inability to really tell what's on other people's minds, and the crippling lack of tact, but the rest of it isn't really all that bad - I have always valued my solitude because I have better things to do than be just one more member of the herd, I have always enjoyed absorbing endless amounts of data concerning the things I love, and I have always liked the idea of being different.

If people don't get me, then that's their problem, not mine...

I'd be the Magneto of aspies. I'd lead them in the fight to stay alive.

NO! I'LL BE ASPIE OR I'LL BE DEAD!

My answer (and edit the poll choices if you can): "Yes, as long as there are no trade-offs."

I want to keep the gifts that also happen to come along with having Asperger's Syndrome, but to also be able to get ahead in life in more ways than I can now.

I was told that (paraphrasingly) even if you trained to be the best IT manager from MIT, with all 4.0 GPAs, you could not enter a Fortune 500 company without a connection from within a company. (Connections range from family members, to good friends, and so on. For non-family connections, if you want strong ones, you need adequate social skills for them.)

No. But I'd like to have my problems cured, of which most are anxiety related.
