Nearly everyone would have had this experience and could be convinced they have this "ability". I'm not surprised at all that people are answering yes. It happens to me a lot, but I don't think it happens to me more than it happens to other people, because if you ever mention it to someone they will almost certainly have anecdotes of their own, or perhaps say "hey now that you mention it..."

Street lights go out all the time.

Just saw the following video advertised whilst I was watching something totally unrelated on You-Tube.
Interesting that the host complains that many Indigo children are mis-diagnosed as Autistic!

Now that you mention it again and I came back to it, I have had some experiences like that. I wouldn't claim they were supernatural though, just merely coincidences. Like my flashlights never work. I always kept getting new ones because as soon as I'd get it (barely before I touched it) it would break. Pretty much always faulty.

Never had any other electronics do that though.... But I do have certain street lights turn off when I walk under them. Annoying as hell.

But I've always been able to "hear" electronics, which is actually quite common for people with good hearing.

Is this that Indigo Child checklist? Because I've looked over that before, and it was always so vague that it could fit anybody, especially if they were even the slightest eccentric. I don't like vagueness of that sort.

Yes indeed it is, good to read the whole thread, my thought are that kids with Aspergers might be mis diagnosed by thier New Age parents as Idigo kids, purely because they do fit the test and Mum wants to belive the child is some sort of super being rather than Autistic.

The mention of Aspergers + test in the first line - is that meant to deliberately mislead people to think it is a type of Aspergers test?

Then are you saying I'm hysterical/histrionic because I answered "yes" to a lot of those questions? :?

No.

That would mean I agreed with that type of a diagnosis to begin with which I don't.

Okay. To me it seems more like a combination of ADHD, giftedness, and a sort of rebellious personality. Could be good or bad. I think people who believe they have special powers are kind of in danger of being a little narcissistic though. Of course a lot of people want to take a test like this that tells them they're special.

Yes I think most people if not everyone want to feel special or be told they are special. I think it could even be ingrained in us as a survival instinct (preferential = better food, more protection in the tribe, etc.) I don't see that as pathological.

I also believe personally in things being possible that science cannot really 'prove' - like ghosts, or ESP, or UFOs. Those things are at least possible. I think it could be bad science to discount such things out of hand. A good scientist always allows for at least the possible, I think.

I've read a quiz or something before for hysterical/histrionic and some of the key questions were a belief in such things. So that seems biased to me. Does this also include religious beliefs? It's part of some people's religious beliefs that for instance a religious 'apparition' could be possible (like Lourdes.) So, that's why I think that type of if this, then that, is a bit off the mark.

I don't know if Indigo/Crystal children are a 'thing' but I'm willing to allow for the possibility, because it's a vast universe.

I agree it's not necessarily a bad thing. It can be a bad thing if your self-perceived "differentness" makes you feel bitter and makes it hard to relate to anyone or find the common humanity. I'm reminded of Holden Caulfield from The Catcher in the Rye.

Actually such things intrigue me. I like a mystery. I just find it hard to outright believe in them and default to skepticism. I don't know if I always like my skepticism as removing the mystery can kind of take the meaning out of things, but I don't always feel like I have a choice. I was brought up in a religious family but I always felt like I just can't make myself believe in it even if the notion of "someone in charge" would comfort me.

Answers to the questions

* Are intelligent, though may not have had top grades.
Yes, very true.

* Are very creative and enjoy making things.
Yes, somewhat true.

* Always need to know WHY, especially why they are being asked to do something.
Yes, very true when I was younger. Not so much true now; I've become to jaded in general to question things.

* Had disgust and perhaps loathing for much of the required and repetitious work in school.
Repetition was strangely comforting to me.

* Were rebellious in school in that they refused to do homework and rejected authority of teachers, OR seriously wanted to rebel, but didn't DARE, usually due to parental pressure.
Didn't dare, due to parental pressure, and my gripping fear of their punishments.

* May have experienced early existential depression and feelings of helplessness. These may have ranged from sadness to utter despair. Suicidal feelings while still in high school or younger are not uncommon .
I had my first suicidal thought at age 5, prayed to god take my life at age 8, and made my first suicide plan at age 13.

* Have difficulty in service-oriented jobs. resist authority and caste system of employment.
Not so true. Both customers and managers complimented me at times.

* Prefer leadership positions or working alone to team positions.
Don't know; I've never had solo or managerial positions.

* Have deep empathy for others, yet an intolerance of stupidity.
Yes, very true.

* May be extremely emotionally sensitive including crying at the drop of a hat (no shielding) Or may be the opposite and show no expression of emotion (full shielding).
Very emotional as a child, more numb than a tooth full of novocaine as an adult.

* May have trouble with RAGE.
Yes, somewhat true. The age is usually repressed, and released in form of chain smoking or drinking until I throw up.

* Have trouble with systems they consider broken or ineffective, ie. political, educational, medical, and legal.
Yes. But in the last few years, I've become too numb and jaded to care.

* Alienation from or anger with politics - feeling your voice won't count and/or that the outcome really doesn't mattter.
Yes, very true. I won't even bother voting in the 2016 election.

* Frustration with or rejection of the traditional American dream - 9-5 career, marriage, 2.5 children, house with white picket fence, etc.
I have no plans to ever get married or have kids. I will get a dog once I move out of my current apartment.

* Anger at rights being taken away, fear and/or fury at "Big Brother watching you."
No fear or fury, just apathy. Neither will stop Big Brother from watching me, anyway. But apathy will help me cope a lot better.

* Have a burning desire to do something to change and improve the world. May be stymied what to do. May have trouble identifying their path.
Not true at all. People who will benefit from the change won't appreciate it anyway.

* Have psychic or spiritual interest appear fairly young - in or before teen years.
Not true at all.

* Have strong intuition. * Random behavior pattern or mind style - (symptoms of Attention Deficit Disorder). May have trouble focusing on assigned tasks, may jump around in conversations.
Not true at all. I hate multitasking.

* Have had psychic experiences, such as premonitions, seeing angels or ghosts, out of body experiences, hearing voices.
Not true at all. I believe that the living are a lot more dangerous than the dead.

* May be electrically sensitive such as watches not working and street lights going out as you move under them, electrical equipment malfunctioning and lights blowing out.
Yes, partially true. Sodium vapor (yellow) streetlights go out when I drive under them. Mercury vapor (bluish white) streetlights are never affected.

* May have awareness of other dimensions and parallel realities.
Not true at all.

* Sexually are very expressive and inventive OR may reject sexuality in boredom or with intention of achieving higher spiritual connection. May explore alternative types of sexuality.
Not true. Using escort services is as sexually creative as I get.

* Seek meaning to their life and understanding about the world May seek this through religion or spirituality, spiritual groups and books, self-help groups and books.
Not true at all. I've become too bitter and jaded over the years to even consider spirituality.

* When they find balance they may become very strong, healthy, happy individuals.
I wish I knew. I haven't found balance, and there's no ETA on that, either. Well, I did kind of, but that was only on a short cruise that lasted less than a week. So it doesn't count.
