There is definitely a sub section of the autism/autistic community with that prejudice. There seems to be a such thing as aspie supremacism , that's what I've gleaned from perusing this website. It is very similar to the sub section of the deaf community who are prejudiced against hearies, IMO. I hate that a part of a group that I'm a member of (perhaps an unpopular member but a member nonetheless) thinks this way. Instead of being a group of people who have a disability and are there to support each other and share experiences and aren't ashamed of their condition, it becomes a group of people who are downright proud of their beneficial mutation , are the next step in human evolution and are superior to the lowly NTs. The whole community does NOT think this way though, only a sub section of it but I still hate it.One thing that's ironic about how this sub section thinks is that one of the qualities they prize in aspies that NTs are not supposed to have is independent thinking, the ability to not be a sheep and think differently from the majority. Well, taking group membership to the extent that you believe your group is superior to all other groups is SO very in keeping with the way the majority of humans think. There's always a segment of a culture that decides their culture is the best and all others are beneath them. Way to be sheep, guys!
I think the Discrimination exist both groups of individual people. I am not blind to the fact that NT is can be and had been used as insult. Nor I am blind fact that person of superiority is based how well you socialize by some people in non AS spectrum. The fact is we do not experience emotion the way most people do it does not mean we are not aware when discrimination occurs. Or even be guilty of it.

Thank you for the post, you worded it awesome an told them how it is.
There seems to be a superiority of Aspergers' diagnosis as opposed to other diagnoses Autism ,HFA, spectrum wise and other mental diagnosis'. Aspergers seems to trump all other diagnosis, and for some have thought themselves better than others.
There have been people, many i have come across here how do not like NTs.
I understand maybe they got fun of in school, so are hurting still. Yet i was made fun of in school and i judge NTs as individuals, not by the whole group of NTs. There are good NTs and there are bad, same with everything.
To think all NTs are bad is just mean. I'm sure everyone has someone who they care about whether it be family or a friend who is an NT.
I agree with daydreamer84 in that this site should be for supporting one another, not promoting some twisted Trend? Lifestyle, whatever Aspergers have mutated into by those who proclaim it's supremacy.
Never in my life have i seen another diagnosis ever become a "trend", so in that regard it is in it's own league if you like that kinda thing.
I have had some exposure to the deaf (Northampton MA). My take is: once you sign, you come into focus. You can communicate, and listen, therefore are a viable person. The rest of society are mannikins. I try not to see NTs like this, but it's an effort.

Yes, it is an effort not to 'think' and react in mechanical patterns, and to listen to a person, anyone, without compartmentalizing him into a generalized pattern. It is work.

That's true. It's so easy to generalize and see groups above individuals. And the less you identify with a group, the more likely you are to group think about it.
