I'm clumsy, if I don't pay attention, and bite my cheek and tongue by mistake. At night for some reason occasionally I'll suddenly wake up due to the pain of having bitten my tongue really really hard. I used to bite my cheeks and lip a lot on purpose, but don't anymore.
- Hope your cheek feels better auntblabby. :)

Clumsy to the nth degree here. I've broken 9 different bones, have scars from 6 major lacerations, broke the cartilage in my nose when I fell face-first onto the faucet in the shower, broke my front tooth falling face-first out of a bus onto the concrete, and pulled a muscle in my back slipping on our back porch. I also have innumerable incidents of cuts, abrasions, sprains, bruises and burns. This doesn't count all the damage I've done breaking things, spilling things and running into things and into people. I don't think I own one blouse that doesn't have at least one spill stain on it.

And YES, I bite the inside of my cheek often. There doesn't seem to be any discernible reason for it -- I have all my molars, and don't think I have TMJ -- although I have been told that I chew like a cow, i.e. sideways rather than up and down. What's particularly painful is to bite a place again that is already inflamed from previous assaults. I've been known to bite the same spot 3-4 times in the course of a few hours.

be sure to rinse with non-alcoholic mouthwash after each cheek-chewing. I know I repeat myself but it bears repeating. mouth germs are some of the worst.

it is a tough deal, but one must learn to be more present at each moment, IOW to make one's own functioning a first priority and let everything else take 2nd place. that means being more deliberate with one's thinking and actions even if it means slowing way down.

I noticed that I do have clumsy moments and that I bite my cheeks a whole lot. And then I will just stand there wide eyed and trying not to whine from the pain.

the older I get the more I realize I can't go to the store and buy new parts for the ones I chewed up, so I have to be extra-mindful of my body.

I dunno what the threshold of clumsy is but I guess so, I definitely bite my cheeks sometimes.

I've had to learn to chew very slowly/deliberately. still I slip up sometimes but not [generally] as bad as I used to. I love my cheekies and don't want to hurt them!

I pamper my cheekies and ask them for their forgiveness everytime I accidently chew on them.

Plus there's that shiver of disgust from that crunch of biting through the skin and into the meat of your inner cheek....bleh!!

(What's the limit to the number of prepositional phrases one can use in one sentence? ^)
