Some of my "special interests" or things I'm generally into....

Consciousness, the mind, perception. The pharmacology/mechanism of action of various psychoactive plants/chemicals. Ethnobotany. Medicinal plants/herbs and their uses. Psychedelic/entheogenic plants & chemicals, their traditional uses/history, as well as their effects and the experiences they catalyze. Altered states of consciousness. Dreams in general, lucid dreaming, and other sleep related "phenomena" . I'm just incredibly intrigued by and fascinated with the mind & consciousness, as well as psychoactive substances and how they work, and the effects they have on the mind/consciousness. And plants, and what they have to offer/traditional uses.

Mushrooms are another special interest of mine. Photographing and identifying wild mushrooms is something I enjoy doing during the wet & cool time of the year. They're such interesting things, and there's so much diversity out there.

I've always been really interested in the weather too. As a kid I'd literally sit and watch satellite loops over and over when a storm was approaching, I was always watching the weather channel lol. When we get thunderstorms coming through the area I'll try to track and chase them.

And a few other broad topics & general things I'm into are....the mechanics of & how things work. The cosmos/universe. Philosophy and wild ideas, new ways of thinking about things and new approaches to old problems. The future. New & future technology. Snowboarding. Engines. Formula-1. Fishing. Art of all sorts. All aspects of nature & the natural world. And just generally watching the world go by, observing and pondering.

This! I love philosophy of mind and all things related to entheogens and psychedelic compounds.

I'll share one of my special interests that I've had since childhood. I love Pontiac Firebirds, especially Trans Ams. My favorites are late 2nd generation and 3rd generation Trans Ams. 3rd gens look like sleek fighter jets to me. The '78 Trans Am Is my favorite of the 2nd generation. I have a few 3rd gen favorites, but I will pick the '87 Trans Am GTA, black on black of course. Enough rambling here. :D

My special interest is dolls, specifically 10-12" fashion dolls. This is what first made me consider the possibility of Asperger syndrome for myself. I have been obsessed with dolls since I was six years old and probably always will be. I have tried to "go cold turkey" a couple of times, but they are too large a part of my life. I own a few dolls that have been in my life longer than any human being has.

My special interests change somewhat rapidly.

Right now:

* I have been doing a bit of maths (first time in my life I have been interested).
* Studying about ASD.
* Building a computer, can't do anything until the parts arrive now.

In the past 12 months my special interests have been:

*Working out
* Learning Dutch
* Medicine (I want to study it as my next degree but that's unrealistic)
* Human rights law, part of my LLB degree.

ive ALWAYS been insanely into music, specifically metal (thrash, death, doom and sludge are my favorite genres) i grew up surrounded by metalheads, my mom and dad and all their friends loved everything from Metallica to Obituary. so i guess it makes sense that id be into it too. i used to have the bigget fascination in Megadeth and Nirvana for some reason. to the point of having basically all the lyrics to all their songs memorized. i used to know everything there was to know about my favorite bands, not only things about their songs but things they did outside of music as well. luckily for me, girls used to find it cute when id get set off on a rant about "real" music and why my music was the best. (ive since become much less of an arrogant punk kid haha) unfortunately, ive always been fascinated by tattoos too since i was a kid and had plans of being a tattoo artist when i was like 17 - 18 so i started planning on getting sleeves. well the only thing i ended up doing was getting the nirvana smiley logo tattooed on the back of my hand and never went any further with the sleeve and now i look like an idiot. my obsession with music went from something i was proud of to something i feel embarrassed about :/ currently saving up to get it removed.

-Cartoooons. Phineas and Ferb is my favorite, but there are a lot of other good ones. No, I don't mean cartoons like Family Guy.
They are just so happy and funny, and they have been in my life for as long as I've been alive, and I hope they stay.

-Psychology. This is a more recent interest, but I'm starting to read into it more. I think I may want to get my doctorate in it. Of course, my college choices change all the time, so I dunno.

-Autism itself. It's such a diverse thing, and I love reading about it, and experiences from other people who have it.

I have other interests, but I don't think they are special interests. They include Gorillaz, Homestuck, and video games.
