People keep trying to sell me on to the idea of getting a cell phone. I barely make use of my landline, why do I need a cell phone? The main reason I even bother to have a landline is so I can order pizza, and in case of an emergency. That and the fact that both my Internet connection (ADSL) and my digital TV service are provided by my local phone company, so they'd probably want me to have a regular phone as part of the deal.

I really don't like answering the phone but I find making a call is even worse. I always concrentrate too hard on trying to make sure my voice is intelligible, as I tend to mumble and talk too fast. So while I'm concenetrating on that, I don't fully process what's being said and when I hang up, I suddenly realise that I completely forgot the important parts of the conversation. If I'm given a date & time for an appointment or something, I usually forget it by the time the call is over.
I have a cellphone, basically there in case I'm out driving and end up in a ditch by the side of some remote country road or something. Except I barely ever leave my house anyway. I've never sent a text in my life, wouldn't know how, to be honest, though I expect a quick look in the manual would soon fix that.

Also I am old and have adjusted to an NY world for a long time.
"NY" world? Did you mean "NT".....or was that a Freudian slip for "New York"? After all, of all the places I've been, nothing in the world was more NT than the Big Apple.
