Can you tell her that you do it when you are stressed and work out some kind of signal you can give her to tell her you need a hug and she can give you one to wait or to go ahead and hug her? That might work out better. Or even ask her to help you find an alternative to hugging. Maybe holding her hand and squeezing gently for ten seconds instead. Something to use instead of that. It won't be as comforting at first, but you will get used to it and it will be after a while.

You said you hug her less, but your original post seemed to be complaining about them asking you to hug her less and wanting suggestions. We gave you suggestions.

If you want to just tell us something like this and you don't need any suggestions about how things are going, just put a sentence in at the bottom of your post that says you are only wanting to tell us, you don't need help or just to talk about it. It's perfectly fine to just post things like that too, but if you don't tell us that it's under control already, we might think you are asking us what we think you should do about it.

So, everything is fine and you aren't having a problem with this now?

If it's working fine, then there's no problem. Glad you found a solution.

No reason to be sorry about not adding the details. Lots of people don't do that on their first posts. We will just give advice when it's not needed if you don't add them, and that's no harm to anyone there.

This seems like a very good solution! I hope it works well.

That does seem to be a better solution to the whole thing.

That's a very nice picture sweetie! I think the Pooh Bear is a perfect solution. He's big enough to really hug but so big he gets in the way and not so little you forget about him. Do you keep him by you in all your classes?

Oh, ok. I don't know what that is though. I went to a regular school, but back in the 70's. I wasn't ever in special ed and we didn't even have it at my school. So I'm just used to either staying in one classroom all day in the lower grades or changing classes each period in the upper grades. What's a signal classroom?
