I do like some slap-stick and silly/goofy stuff. But far from all. Usually it is the stuff done by very clever artists, like Charlie Chapin or Moe Howard. Its hard to think any modern masters off the top of my head but Chris Farley comes to mind as a more recent comedian that used slapstick frequently.

The Three Stooges were funny when I was about nine,
I mean its basically a cartoon done with real people.
Theses days I find this kinda slapstick funny:

Kramer is hilarious! One of my favorite tv characters ever.

To me the reason this is funny is that Kramer is doing all of this to himself. It's meant to seem clumsy and accidental. Same with Lucille Ball, her routines were about getting herself in trouble and making a fool of herself. That kind of slapstick can be very funny.

The Three Stooges are pretending to hurt each other, on purpose. That's just not funny to me.

Sure, I can find slapstick funny. Funny is funny. I'm not one for nut shots or farts but you can't tell me someone like Chris Farley isn't funny.

I actually Love it as I love British comedy and humor. I understand it, in a sense, a lot better than mainstream comedy. This is a rather good explanation of British humor.

And one of my favorite skits!

I enjoy slapstick, but not the extreme examples of it (blowing people up). I appreciate it because its the only humor I can really get without having to think about the meaning, because there is no meaning or hidden agenda I have to discover. I think so much all the time that its nice to take a break and watch some incompetent fruit cart owner slip on a banana peel or see a construction crew worker knock over his buddies with an overly long plank of wood. It's nice to understand it instinctively just like a normal person.

Seeing people hurt makes me wince, not laugh. I don't understand how anyone finds comedy based in pain funny.

I look at something like this and it just seems nasty. No humor in it.

The closest I have seen to this that seemed funny was Monty Python… there are some slapstick bits there that do make me laugh, but I think that has more to do with incongruity than pain.

It's not funny because people are portrayed as being hurt, it's funny because of the utter ridiculousness in how they act. In understanding slapstick comedy, it's best to familiarize yourself also with satire, and exaggeration (especially in action). The true nature of slapstick can be found in those best imo.
