Well my default 'accent' isn't really abnormal typical Colorado accent I suppose...though depends on where you are if you're in an area with a high hispanic/asian population you'll run into a lot of people with asian, mexican, south american ect. accents. I guess some people have mentioned I talk kind of slow, this has lead to people accidentally interrupting because they thought I was done. I sometimes do find myself talking in a rather British accent usually to myself...can't say why that is the sort of accent I go to guess just exposure to it in movies, music perhaps since some of my favorite bands include Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Preist, Cradle of Filth, The Beatles and Pink Floyd.
I know there have been times I've watched British movies...and had to see them a couple times before I really understood what was said. You'd think 'oh same language, different accent...I'll understand perfectly'. only to find yourself wondering 'what the hell did they just say' over and over again because the different slang or phrasings for instance.
Also it throws me off when people talk quick, seems some accents cause that...I had someone the other day ask me to borrow my lighter to light a cigarette, sounded like they had a more east cost kind of accent...and it took a couple times of them asking 'do you have a light' for me to understand cause at first it was like someone came up talking jibberish, and I was smoking a rolled cigarette so also had it in my mind they may have been asking if I had any weed or knew where they could get some..as it could have looked like a joint.
