Sherlock Holmes used to be a special interest of mine, and yes, I did try to emulate him, particularly his incredibly strong observation skills. I love the show they made from it, "Sherlock", Benedict Cumberbatch does a brilliant job playing such an eccentric character, and the show is hilarious. I also love catching the subtle parallels they make between the episodes and the stories, such as Watson's names for cases. I would not have pegged the original Sherlock Holmes as Asperger's, merely eccentric, however, Cumberbatch's version is without a doubt in my mind a classic aspie, yet another reason I love the character

It's been 4 years since I read my first Holmes story and I am still so obsessed I don't want to see a new movie or BBC episode because any (expected) changes to the established Sherlock Holmes in my head give me actual stomach aches. That to me indicates the presence of an obsession.

I can now discuss Star Trek without that feeling so I guess that obsession has passed. It took me about 8 years...

Yes, he calls himself a "high-functioning sociopath", however, based on my analysis of the DSM-V criteria for sociopaths, he does not match many if any of the symptoms, so his conclusion as to his diagnosis is incorrect. He probably likes the idea of being a threatening and emotionless sociopath better than being a socially clueless and dependent aspie.

I never really got interested in Sherlock Holmes nor have I ever wanted to be him.
