GPS.

I've lived in the suburbs of Vancouver pretty much my entire life but still only know the very main routes through town. If I'm driving around without GPS, I just drive until I see a landmark I recognize or come across a main street I know and then I can get myself back onto one of the main highways in/out of town. But my sense of direction & knowledge of inner city streets is pretty piss poor overall, so I use my GPS everywhere I drive. I save a lot of time and gas that way.
