Intellectual types are usually very boring.

From personal experience, I have found the AS scientists that I know more exacting in their work than NTs in the same field. More application to careful detail, more consideration of confounding variables, a preference for more robust research designs and rigour in the kinds of data tests they select. I think this could be related to the more general characteristic of the AS love of truth for its own sake and fair play, rather than being more intellectual. The Aspies are certainly more rigorous and inquiring, and how.

I took the entry test for Mensa once. Lot of people gathered for it, 90 minute train ride from my town. The test was a visual/mathematical thing, pretty short too. After a week or so, I got an e-mail saying I didn't make the cut. I'm not particularly heartbroken about it.

PS: paid a pretty hefty sum to participate in the test, too.

It's not a question of intellect vs. emotion.

It's a question of intellect vs. intuition (in the social sense).

Yes, Aspies are more intellectual when it comes to social interaction than the average NT. Nothing to do with intelligence or lack there of on anyone's part. Intellect means needing to think, and base decisions on brain power. With sociability, NTs don't really need to do this, it comes naturally to them. With Aspies, we have no choice. We lack the sociable intuition. That's the very definition of having Asperger's.

Yes, it's a spectrum: Some NTs might rely on a little social intellect. Some Aspies might have some social intuition. But, in a social context, if you rely more on intuition, you're NT. If you rely more on intellect, you're an Aspie.
